  • Patent number: 4262739
Abstract: An integrated system for storing thermal energy, for space heating and cong and for power conversion is described which utilizes the reversible thermal decomposition characteristics of two hydrides having different decomposition pressures at the same temperature for energy storage and space conditioning and the expansion of high-pressure hydrogen for power conversion. The system consists of a plurality of reaction vessels, at least one containing each of the different hydrides, three loops of circulating heat transfer fluid which can be selectively coupled to the vessels for supplying the heat of decomposition from any appropriate source of thermal energy from the outside ambient environment or from the spaces to be cooled and for removing the heat of reaction to the outside ambient environment or to the spaces to be heated, and a hydrogen loop for directing the flow of hydrogen gas between the vessels.

  • Patent number: 4263529
Abstract: An evacuated envelope is divided into a plurality of electron propagation channels. Each channel includes an electron gun section and a beam guide section. The electron gun section provides electrons in the form of beams to the guide section. The guide section includes spaced guide meshes and the electrons are propagated along the channel in the space between the guide meshes. A launch section, in the form of at least one pair of launch electrodes, is arranged between the electron gun section and the beam guide section. The conditions under which electrons leave the gun section and enter the guide section are selected by the application of selected voltages to the launch electrodes.

  • Patent number: 4173347
Abstract: A game for two or more players wherein there is a relationship between the playing pieces and the spots and pathways of the playing surface, all of which are made up of an index or an arrangement of indicia, with this said relationship being between the indicia and governed by predetermined rules. On certain of the playing surface spots, there may be placed a plurality of removable and interchangeable elements with each element carrying an indicium different from the other elements. Each playing piece may carry one or more indicium differing from other of the playing pieces and corresponding to an indicium on a removable element. Each playing piece may also removably carry an indicium indicative of ownership by one of the players. The playing pieces are strategically moved from spot to spot, and the game rules may provide for capture of a playing piece by an opponent's piece if it carries an indicium having a higher value in a predetermined hierarchy of indicia.

  • Patent number: 4034663
Abstract: Disclosed is a portable grill assembly adapted for use on, for example, a kitchen countertop area. The assembly includes a somewhat L-shaped housing, the horizontally extending portion of which encloses a heating element and is topped by a grill element for supporting meat or other edibles for exposed surface broiling. The adjoining upwardly extending portion houses a power driven fan which draws air, smoke and cooking vapors from across the grill element and into the upwardly extending portion. The fan outlet discharges to the exterior of the housing.

  • Patent number: 3981386
Abstract: Disclosed is a mechanism for shifting the rack of a selection mechanism for a single element printer from one position to another in timed relationship to the translation of a barrel cam which provides the necessary mechanical input to control the amount of rotation of the typehead. The control of the rack shift mechanism is a cam arrangement operated in timed relationship with the translating barrel cam to provide for the shifting of the rack at the beginning of each print cycle, if necessary, and the retaining of the rack in its shifted position at the completion of the cycle, thereby eliminating the necessity to provide for the time required to shift the rack back to its home position at the end of the cycle.
