  • Patent number: 4302862
Abstract: A snow removal tool having a brush and a handle. The tool can be assembled in a T-shaped mode by locking an end of the handle to the center of the brush. When the brush is not used in the T-shaped mode, the handle is pushed into the hollow tube of the brush and twist locked in a short longitudinal mode. The handle can also be locked in one end of the tube of the brush thereby permitting the handle to act as an extension of the brush when a longer reach is desired.

  • Patent number: 4289356
Abstract: A shield assembly for installation in an underground roadway or tunnel comprises an articulated upper shield assembly, a lower shield assembly and a plurality of hydraulic rams for urging the upper shield assembly upwards relatively to the lower shield assembly, a telescopic arrangement being provided which guides the upper shield assembly in a direction along the roadway or tunnel but which allows the end margins of the upper shield assembly to move outwardly relative to the end margins of the lower shield assembly.

  • Patent number: 4244168
Abstract: An implement for sweeping and raking having a base, a handle attached to the base, and bristles extending out of the base. Each bristle has a first portion, one end of which is engaged in the base, and a similar length, second portion bent at an angle to the first portion. The bent angle between the portions of each bristle is between about 100.degree. and 150.degree., whereby the implement operates as a broom when it is pushed away from the user and as a rake when it is pulled towards the user.

  • Patent number: 4174584
Abstract: A fish lure is formed of an elongated strip. A central section of the strip is twisted so that the flat leading and trailing end portions are rotated 90.degree. with respect to each other. The combined spinning and zig-zag action of the lure is both obtained and controlled by the location of the twisted portions in the strip, the relative sizing of the twisted and flat portions, and the size of the end portions with respect to each other. The length of the twisted section which provides the action, approximates that of the trailing end portion, which acts as a stabilizing rudder. The length of the leading end portion is about one fourth that of the trailing end portion to improve the balance between the end portions and the twisted central portion.

  • Patent number: 4096675
Abstract: A house includes a split-slab foundation having an upper portion constructed within an enclosed on-tract factory and a lower portion constructed on the lot. The superstructure of the house is erected upon the upper portion, and the super-structure and upper portion are transported off-highway by air-cushion transport to the lot where the slab upper portion is mated with the lower portion. The upper portion is uniquely constructed with areas of increased thickness to withstand the shear forces of parts of the house having substantial weight, with pipe passageways to accommodate pipes built into the lower portion, and with means for releaseably attaching an air impermeable skirt used for air cushion transport. The lower portion is uniquely constructed with recessed areas to accommodate the areas of the upper portion having increased thickness and the pipes therein are positioned to be in register with the passageways in the upper portion.

  • Patent number: 4075778
Abstract: A fish lure is formed of an elongated strip. The strip is twisted so that the end portions are rotated 90.degree. with respect to each other. The center of the lure comprises a pair of triangular sections formed by creases in the strip.

  • Patent number: 4055228
Abstract: A drive line disconnect mechanism for effecting rapid connection and disconnection of the drive line between a power module and the ground-engaging wheels of a work module, said modules being adapted to be joined together into an articulated modular vehicle. The drive line disconnect mechanism includes a first toothed coupling half mounted on a power module coupling member and a second toothed coupling half mounted on a work module coupling member wherein the second toothed coupling half is mounted so as to permit multi-planar pivotal movement relative to the first toothed coupling half. Centering means permit initial alignment and biasing means thereafter permit driving engagement.

  • Patent number: 4051553
Abstract: For football, a hard foam rubber pad is affixed to the back of a lightweight cotton glove. The pad extends over the knuckles, (metacarpo-phalangeal joint), of a hand inserted in the glove. The pad is molded so as to force the fingers to naturally curl without conscious effort, but allowing the fingers to be straightened with conscious effort. By curling the fingers, the probability that the fingers will be bent backward over the back of the hand with resultant injury is greatly reduced. The pad also protects the back of the hand from direct injury. In addition, latex rubber affixed to the fingers, thumb, and palm of the glove enables an athlete to grip a ball with greater facility.

  • Patent number: 3948142
Abstract: A one-piece blind nut, usable for flush attachment to a workpiece by axially collapsing the nut through the use of a mandrel and an anvil, includes a body member with an internally threaded end portion which receives the threaded end portion of the mandrel. An aperture of predetermined diameter is provided in the workpiece, and the blind nut, assembled to the mandrel, is inserted through the aperture. The end of the nut opposite the threaded portion includes a serrated exterior portion which is used to secure the blind nut to the workpiece in a non-rotating relationship without the use of a countersink in the workpiece.
