  • Publication number: 20080071673
Abstract: In order to generate a financial-aid application, a system provides an electronic template that is compatible with a format of the financial-aid application, and the system retrieves stored financial information for a first individual. This financial information includes one or more income tax returns that are stored in a format that is compatible with financial planning software. Furthermore, the system merges the financial information with the electronic template to complete at least a portion of the financial-aid application.

  • Publication number: 20080041781
Abstract: A cooking oil container has a filter cup retained at the upper end thereof. The filter cup retains a planar circular filter at the lower end and a seal between the filter holder and the bottom of the filter cup prevents oil from overflowing around the circumference of the filter holder to avoid the filter. The filter cup is spaced from the inner walls of the container to allow air to escape from the bottom of the container. The top of the container has a grip ring and the inverted top is useable as a drip tray for the filter cup while oil is being poured out of the container.

  • Patent number: 7328785
Abstract: A conveyor for transporting objects sensitive to electrostatic discharge. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a roller conveyor with conductive rollers in electrical communication with an electrical ground. The rollers preferably have about 105 ohms resistance from the outer diameter to the inner diameter to ensure that electrostatic charges built up on the conveyed object can flow to ground, yet not flow too quickly. In another embodiment, the roller shafts are supported on highly conductive bushings that provide a path to electrical ground that is preferably less that 104 ohms. In yet another embodiment, the roller shafts are driven by a conductive pulley that minimizes the build-up of electrostatic charge as a result of a triboelectric effect with the drive belt.

  • Patent number: 7283997
Abstract: A computer system presents retrieved documents to a user, with documents most similar to documents in which the user previously showed high interest being ranked higher than other retrieved documents. The system compares a query vector with feedback query vectors, where each feedback query vector is associated with at least one user feedback vector, and each user feedback vector indicates an aggregate user interest in documents including terms associated with the user feedback vector. The system determines a feedback query vector that is most similar to the query vector, compares the document vectors with a user feedback vector associated with the most similar feedback query vector, and determines the document vector that is most similar to such user feedback vector. The document associated with the most similar document vector is ranked higher than the remaining retrieved documents, when presented to the user.

  • Patent number: 7102842
Abstract: A multi-head actuator data storage device reads and writes data simultaneously to one of a plurality m of heads, the plurality of m heads mounted on each of n head actuators where the plurality of n head actuators are separated from each other by an angular separation distance of 360/n degrees. The data on the disk is organized into a plurality of logical sectors, each logical sector comprising n ordered physical sectors, where the plurality n of ordered physical sectors is separated by the same angular distance separating the head actuators. During a write operation, each head actuator independently seeks to a unique physical sector, and the order of the physical sectors is communicated to a data de-multiplexer which writes de-multiplexed data to the physical sectors in a predetermined order.

  • Publication number: 20060177088
Abstract: An architectural speaker assembly includes a speaker supported within the speaker enclosure of a mounting fixture. A grill is provided to conceal the speaker. A grill support is configured to support the grill substantially flush with a facing ring of the mounting fixture to blend into the surrounding ceiling or wall. The grill support includes a concave wall that surrounds the speaker. • Patent number: 7067323
Abstract: A system and method for nondestructive automated headspace analysis. The system includes a container conveyor that conveys a plurality of generally optically transparent sealed test containers through a pre-inspection region, an inspection region and a post-inspection region of the container conveyor, and that conveys at least one sealed reference container, through the inspection region. Also included is a zone including a laser emitter and a sensor located in the inspection region and arranged such that the laser source emits a laser beam such that it intersects with a container movement path. The conveyor alternatingly conveys test containers and reference containers through the zone.

  • Patent number: 7043178
Abstract: An apparatus and method for dampening annoying resonance noise in auger systems. The dampening effect is accomplished by an insert placed within an inner bore of an auger. The insert itself may be continuous or in segments and be comprised of material capable of absorbing vibrational energy. One embodiment of an insert is a tube that is purposefully cut longer than the auger itself in order to induce bending of the tube and contact with the sides of the auger bore.

  • Patent number: 7016944
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method that monitors upgrade availability for computer information on a user's computer and allows the user to determine which of the available upgrades will be downloaded to the user's computer and installed. The upgrade availability for computer information on the user's computer is monitored in the background, without user-intervention when the user connects to a network, such as the Internet. If any such upgrades are available, a flag is set to notify the user of such upgrades. The user is notified of any available upgrades when computer information is accessed for which an upgrade is available, and given a choice of whether or not to download the available upgrade(s). The downloaded upgrade(s) may then be installed by an installation means. In this manner, the present invention allows for the user to download only those upgrades desired by the user.

  • Patent number: 6745510
Abstract: A waterfowl decoy that can assembled from a flat, planar sheet to a 3-deminsional decoy that is capable of stacking while assembled. Decoy comprises a sheet and an anchor. The sheet has an outer periphery shaped to resemble a waterfowl when the sheet is assembled in a 3-dimensional state, with a head, body and shoulder. The sheet is substantially symmetrical about a longitudinal axis, except for a bifurcated head. The head has a pair of members that are specifically asymmetrical to appear more realistic. The sheet also has a pair of shoulder segments that are aligned by flexing the sheet along the longitudinal axis and securing using an anchor. A plurality of decoys may be stacked, while in a fully assembled state and with anchors intact. While stacked, the anchors may be moved to a position that locks the stack so that individual decoys cannot be removed until the anchors are moved to a position that releases the stack.
