  • Patent number: 8720860
Abstract: A hand tool includes an elongated plunger assembly and a locking assembly. The locking assembly has a catch assembly with a release actuator. The release actuator is movable in a direction generally not aligned with the tool head plane of motion. The locking assembly catch member is structured to engage the plunger assembly body and maintain the plunger assembly body in a selected position. Further, the plunger assembly is disposed in a socket within the tool head and biased toward an extended position by a spring. The release actuator is, preferably, disposed on the neck of the hand tool just above the user's thumb. When the plunger assembly body is disposed within the tool head and a user desires to extend the plunger assembly, the user actuates the release actuator thereby removing the engagement of the catch member and allowing the socket spring to move the plunger assembly body to the extended position.

  • Patent number: 8710856
Abstract: A terminal end for a flat test probe having tapered cam surfaces providing a lead-in angle on the tail of the terminal end which extend to a sharp rear angle to engage detents or projections within a receptacle. The tapered cam surfaces and shape rear angles allow the probe to be inserted into the receptacle with minimal force to retain the flat test probe within the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 8479495
Abstract: A control module for a vehicle includes a correction module that generates a correction signal based on a regeneration state of an exhaust system of the vehicle and based on a received environmental signal. The environmental signal includes at least one of an altitude value, an ambient temperature, and an air flow value. The air flow value corresponds to air flow across an external area of the exhaust system. A first post injection module generates a first post injection signal. A second post injection module adjusts the first post injection signal based on the correction signal to generate a second post injection signal.

  • Patent number: 8327621
Abstract: A temperature control system comprises a temperature determination module, a temperature correction module, a temperature control module, and an updating module. The temperature determination module determines a desired outlet temperature for an oxidation catalyst (OC) that is located upstream of a particulate filter (PF) in an exhaust system. The temperature correction module determines a temperature correction from a plurality of temperature corrections. The temperature control module controls an outlet temperature of the OC based on the desired outlet temperature and the temperature correction. The updating module selectively updates at least one of the plurality of temperature corrections when an engine speed and an engine load are within respective predetermined ranges.

  • Patent number: 8321830
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for providing timing information to a view placement interactive (VPI) tool user designing a multi-cell circuit. A circuit design comprising a plurality of cells is displayed to the user. Each cell includes a pre-characterized circuit structure. A graphical user interface (GUI) may be used to request a cell placement change, a design connectivity change or a cell type change. The circuit design is modified to implement the requested change, an incremental static timing analysis is performed, and the resulting timing information associated with the requested change is presented on the displayed circuit design. Timing information may be displayed directly on a cell that receives an output from the particular cell, and/or may be displayed adjacent to the particular cell. The timing information may include current and previous frequency slack information associated with each input and output pin of the particular cell.

  • Publication number: 20120179088
Abstract: A tampon assembly used for penetration injuries to provide hemostasis and simultaneous broad spectrum antibiotic/anesthetic application. The tampon includes a helically-wound absorbent member impregnated with coagulant, covered with biodegradable or plastic accordion-pleated sheath including a bioluminescent tape outer marker. A measured dose of antibiotic/anesthetic suspension is sealed within the confines of an outer sheath configured as a perforated petal-shaped tip enabling wound insertion followed by through passage of the contained wound packing and treatment liquids/emulsions. A radio opaque cotton withdrawal string attaches to the absorbent member at the end facing the wound opening. An insertion shaft is used for tampon deposition within the wound. Manual pressure on the shaft causes seal rupture and expulsion of wound packing and treatment through the ruptured tip of the sheath. The tampon device may be sized to conform to various injuries, and used intra-operatively during surgery.

  • Patent number: 8099204
Abstract: A powertrain system includes an engine coupled to an input member of a transmission operative to transmit power between the input member, a torque machine and an output member. The torque machine is connected to an energy storage device. The engine is selectively operative in engine states comprising an engine-on state and an engine-off state. A method for controlling a powertrain system includes determining a first power range for output power of the energy storage device, commanding the engine to transition from a first engine state to a second engine state, and expanding the first power range of the energy storage device and controlling the torque machine based upon the expanded power range of the energy storage device during the transition from the first engine state to the second engine state.
