  • Publication number: 20040230718
Abstract: A system including a host coupled to a serially connected chain of memory modules. In one embodiment, each of the memory modules includes a memory control hub for controlling access to a plurality of memory chips on the memory module. The memory modules are coupled serially in a chain to the host via a plurality of memory links. Each memory link may include an uplink for conveying transactions toward the host and a downlink for conveying transactions originating at the host to a next memory module in the chain. The uplink and the downlink may convey transactions using packets that include control and configuration packets and memory access packets. The memory control hub may convey a transaction received on a first downlink of a first memory link on a second downlink of a second memory link independent of decoding the transaction.

  • Publication number: 20040227124
Abstract: The present invention relates to a carboxylic acid based antifreeze coolant formulation for heavy duty applications such as for diesel engines which may be used for inhibition and prevention erosion and corrosion of aluminum and the corrosion of other metals exposed to an aqueous liquid in automotive coolant systems. The formulation further inhibits mineral scale. It may be packaged as an ethylene glycol based additive for use in new engines or in a concentrated inhibition package as an additive as for reinhibition of used coolant. The combination of a mixture of ethylene or propylene glycol, a monobasic carboxylic organic acid, azoles, low levels of molybdates, a nitrite salt and/or nitrate salt and/or siloxane stabilized silicate, and combinations thereof, polyvinylpyrrolidone, provide a synergistic protective effect against the cavitation corrosion of aluminum in aqueous liquids reducing the corrosion rate and is effective at relatively low concentrations and varying pH ranges.

  • Patent number: 6789041
Abstract: An apparatus and method for use in conversion of bidirectional signals are provide. Some embodiments, use dual-value up/down counters chained together to alter the ratio of input to output signals between N and N+1 such that an averaged output is a non-integral multiple of the input. The maximum value for each counter can be N or N+1 according to the next counter. An output signal is asserted when the maximum value is reached, and a count signal is output on the next up count, resetting the counter to zero. An output signal is asserted when the counter equals zero, and a count signal is output on the next down count, setting the counter to the currently selected maximum value. Direction signal is common to counters, and count output is count input of the next counter. Output count of first counter is final circuit count output.

  • Publication number: 20040113361
Abstract: The card game scoreboard is a round peg tally board with concentric scoring tracks, lap tracks and game tracks with each track color coded to corresponding pegs for the respective players or teams. Provisions allow for the display of the bid and/or a named trump suit for card games using these features. Negative scoring can also be accommodated. The design provides a clear visual display of scoring for any game whose requisite number of points and/or games to win can be accumulated with pegs on a combination of scoring, lap and game tracks.

  • Patent number: 6745579
Abstract: A computer room reduced air flow method and apparatus is provided which utilizes an increased delta T to reduce the required air quantity required from an air conditioning system, thus resulting in a reduced air flow capability. Specifically, the present invention utilizes an approximately 40° delta T to reduce the CFM requirements by substantially 50% so as to correspondingly reduce the required power for the fan by approximately 50% so as to result in substantial energy savings. The present invention serves to communicate cooling air from a cooling apparatus into an air passageway, guiding the cooling air within the air passageway into the equipment assembly and introducing the air released from the equipment into either a plenum for communicating such released air to the cooling apparatus or introducing the air released from the equipment into the room in which the equipment and/or cooling apparatus are located.

  • Publication number: 20040106164
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for detecting a biological molecule associated with enzyme activity in a sample. The invention is applicable to detecting a microorganism associated with an enzyme in a sample such as water, food, soil, or a biological sample. According to a preferred embodiment of the method of the invention, a sample containing an enzyme of interest or a microorganism associated with the enzyme is combined with a suitable substrate, and a fluorescent product of the enzyme-substrate reaction is selectively detected. The fluorescent product is detected with a partitioning element or optical probe/partitioning element of the invention. In one embodiment the partitioning element provides for partitioning of only the fluorescent product molecule into the probe. The invention also provides an automated system for monitoring for biological contamination of water or other samples.

  • Publication number: 20040089285
Abstract: A barbeque grill arrangement is provided having a grill unit removably mounted on a rack which attaches to an exterior vehicle wall to form a stable grill support solely by the vehicle connection. At least part of that connection can utilize a standard indoor/outdoor stove support bracket. The rack maintains all elements of the grill at least predetermined distance from the vehicle wall, sufficient to avoid heat-induced damage to the wall. The grill is connectable to the same fuel supply as is used by an interior stove. Grill heat is vented away from the vehicle. A cover stop is mounted within the cover hinge.

  • Patent number: 6722151
Abstract: An air conditioning cooling apparatus and method which includes the steps of supplying cooling air generated from a cooling apparatus into an air passageway formed below a floor; guiding the cooling air in a controlled manner within the air passageway into an equipment assembly disposed on the floor through an opening located in the floor; communicating the cooling air introduced into the equipment assembly in a controlled manner into a plenum and introducing the air released from within the equipment into the plenum and communicating the released air through the cooling apparatus for cooling the released air. The method can permit temperature differential between the air supplied to the air passageway and the air introduced into the plenum from the equipment assembly to be 45° F. to substantially 40° F. so as to reduce the power necessary for operating on the fan of the blowing apparatus, and can also permit a controlled, uniform flow of air to and from the equipment in the equipment assembly.
