  • Patent number: 4693509
Abstract: The present invention provides a convertible top and support arrangement for the rear window. The present invention provides a convertible top with a top cover overlay type seal between the glass and cover. In the present invention's preferred embodiment, the window is cantileveredly supported at its rearward end. At its forward end the window is supported via a linkage with a cabled tension stabilizer. The arrangement provides increased stabilizing force with minimum tension in the cable or in the cantilevered support mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4690100
Abstract: An animal housing and service system of the type having impervious cage boxes suspended on brackets from internally-ducted shelves is provided with flat foraminous filter panels disposed across the open tops of the cage boxes, the filter panels remaining in position when the boxes are mounted in the shelves. An independently-ventilated service enclosure is provided for receiving cage boxes, the service enclosure having air direction panels adapted to achieve a downward flow across the cages to be serviced. By keeping the filter panels in place on the cages except when the cage is in the service enclosure, the system achieves the powered ventilation benefits of integrally-ducted shelves and the positive isolation from pathogens of filter covers.

  • Patent number: 4667381
Abstract: Apparatus for attaching insulation penetrating connectors to the ends of flat multiple pair cables has a sheath stripping station and a connector attaching station. Spaced knives slit the sheath crosswise of the cable and translate in the direction of the cable to strip the sheathing while conductor separating and engaging combs engage on each side of the cable one conductor of each pair of conductors prior to complete removal of the severed sheath end but operative upon complete sheath removal to separate the conductors into two planar arrays diverging in opposite directions from the general plane of the cable. A carriage holding the cable with bared end is arranged to translate from the sheath stripping station to the connector attaching station where connector holding jaws are articulable for the purpose.

  • Patent number: 4635718
Abstract: A continuous obstruction monitor for well logging drill strings including a well logging instrument at the forward end thereof transports the logging instrument through an earth borehole while continuously monitoring for obstructions. An outer tubular housing is connected at its upper end to the drill string and a piston therein is connected to the upper portion of the logging instrument. The housing has a variable volume greater than the volume of an equal length of the drill string. The piston is electrically connected to the surface. A latch retains the piston in the lower portion of the housing, and releases it when an obstruction is encountered. The outer housing moves downward relative to the piston to a point where a sealing surface at the mid portion of the housing shuts off fluid flow below the piston and causing the drilling fluid to rise within drill string to be detected at the surface.

  • Patent number: 4616748
Abstract: A container in which artists' pastels can be safely stored and transported and discoloring pastel dust can be conveniently removed from the pastels. The container holds a stack of trays, each made from a frame that surrounds and supports an open mesh on which pastels can be placed. The trays are supported above a freely flowing granular abrasive in the bottom of the container which can scour the pastel dust from the surfaces of the pastels. The top tray is just beneath the top of the container so that, when the container is inverted, the trays are held in place by the stack and the pastels are protected against breakage by the abrasive, which surrounds and scours the pastels, and by the previously overlying top of the container or by the mesh of the previously overlying tray.

  • Patent number: 4603399
Abstract: Data from a patch memory (23) is substituted for that in a system ROM (9) by applying high order addresses to a standard PLA (19) having word lines (FIG. 3, 50a-50p). The address orders are separately applied to EXCLUSIVE OR circuits (27a-27g). The PLA (19) is personalized to activate line (21) at addresses to be substituted and to provide logical zeros to the EXCLUSIVE OR circuits (27a-27g) which change during the patch. Only one word line is required for each continuous patch, which vary in size on a patch-by-patch basis. The circuit is fast and efficient. It can be used for a wide variety of memory substitution applications.

  • Patent number: 4601630
Abstract: A load handling apparatus particularly suited for incorporation into a vehicle for lifting and transporting heavy loads such as steel billets, comprising a main frame to straddle a load, pivotally mounted lift frame assembly providing the lifting capability to raise a steel billet and suspend it during transport, suspended load engaging and clamping members, hydraulic cylinders to actuate the clamping and lifting members and an hydraulically actuated drag link for stabilizing the load while transporting over uneven terrain. The drag link is pivotally connected at its one end to the main frame and at its other end to the suspended load engaging and clamping assembly so that these pivot points, in conjunction with the pivot points of the lift frame assembly, substantially define a parallelogram relationship. By varying the length of the drag link, the clamping assembly is maintained in proper orientation relative to the ground.

  • Patent number: 4587799
Abstract: A harvesting machine includes a mobile main frame adapted to advance over a field of standing crop and including a forward header having an axially transverse stripping rotor with stripping elements that impact the seeds on the standing crop and deliver them rearwardly to a crop converging auger, which discharges the separated crop material through a housing to a blower type elevator. The elevator delivers the material to a rotary type cleaner that separates the seeds from some of the other crop material, the partially clean seeds then being delivered to a conventional combine cleaning shoe that finishes the separation of the seeds from the rest of the crop material, the seeds then being delivered to a clean grain conveying system.

  • Patent number: 4589074
Abstract: A power line monitor capable of monitoring multiple power lines simultaneously includes a channel circuit for each monitored line, a common logic circuit and control logic. The signal on each power line is analog-to-digital converted and stored in channel circuit memory. A trigger detector produces a trigger detect signal in response to the monitored signal exceeding a preset limit. The trigger detect signal initiates a delay time during which the conversion and storing process in the triggered channel continues. The delay time is selected such that a desired amount of both pre- and post trigger data is retained in the associated channel memory. The control logic is operable in either a manual or an automatic mode. In the manual mode, memory stored data in a triggered channel is repetitively cycled to a digital-to-analog converter provided in the common logic, whereby an operator can monitor the stored waveform and, if desired, load the channel memory contents to magnetic tape.
