  • Publication number: 20240086879
Abstract: A host device is included within a housing of a first peripheral; the host devices includes an internal connection within the housing to the first peripheral. Each composited integrated peripheral device includes two or more second peripherals. A combination of the host device, the composite integrated peripheral devices, standalone peripheral devices, and accessory modules is identified. Housings associated with the combination are attached to, placed on, or placed adjacent to one or more of the accessory modules of the combination. In an embodiment, accessory modules are arranged in a layout that defines a clearance area for custom access and the corresponding peripherals of the combination are connected to the host device. The host device processes self-service transactions for customers with disabilities using the corresponding peripherals and the accessory modules within the layout.

  • Publication number: 20230169286
Abstract: A portable scan-assistance device is provided. A mobile device operated by a customer establishes a connection to the scan-assistance device at the start of a shopping trip by tapping the mobile device on the scan-assistance device or by the mobile device scanning a code affixed to the scan-assistance device. A status light on the scan-assistance device illuminates a designated color (such as blue) upon successful connection. A camera/image sensor/barcode reader of the scan-assistance device captures an item code of an item placed in front of the camera and forwards the item code to a mobile shopping application on the user mobile device during the customer's shopping trip. When an item code is successfully captured the status light of the scan-assistance device illuminates a second color (such as green), otherwise the status light of the scan-assistance device illuminates a third color (such as red).

  • Patent number: 11657683
Abstract: A transaction terminal includes a vertically integrated bagging weigh scale and a vertically integrated scanner. The scale includes two posts that extend horizontally out from the terminal and upon which a bag hangs. Items placed in the bag cause displacement of the posts and/or pressure detected on the posts resulting in a recorded weight by a weight sensor of the scale. A current recorded weight of the bag is reported from the scale to the terminal during a transaction as each item is placed into the bag. The terminal uses the item weights to record prices for those items sold by weight and to verify that items scanned by the scanner and placed in the bag have expected weights for those items.

  • Publication number: 20230136763
Abstract: A terminal indicator device is provided as a peripheral of a self-service terminal (SST). The indicator device includes two separate displays back-to-back or a single contiguous display having a display surface area of greater than 180 degrees and up to 360 degrees. The indicator device includes a host port for connecting to the SST and one or more status light ports for connecting to one or more status lights. The indicator device is affixed to an apparatus situated above the SST. The apparatus includes the one or more status light strips. The SST controls colors and/or effects of the status light strips and media played on the two displays or the contiguous display. In an embodiment, a server controls the status light strips and the media played on the two or more displays or the contiguous display via the SST or via a wireless transceiver of the indicator device.

  • Publication number: 20230077198
Abstract: A transaction apparatus comprises a touch display, a framed element, and a vertical scanner. The framed element comprises at least two cameras focused on a scan area defined in front of the vertical scanner. The framed element is located above a top portion of the vertical scanner and the touch display is adjustable up and down relative to a top portion of the framed element. During a transaction when items are placed in the scan area, multiple images of the scan area are provided by the cameras. The vertical scanner scans any item barcodes for the items visible to a scan window of the scanner. The multiple images are processed to identify item codes for the items. Scanned item codes are compared against their corresponding item codes and the transaction is processed.

  • Publication number: 20230076008
Abstract: A shopper is identified upon entering a store and a shopping session is initiated for the shopper. Locations of the shopper within the store are tracked using wireless signals of a shopper's device. Items are scanned and/or weighed at distributed devices that report the item details to a server. The server correlates the shopper's current location to the reporting device and updates details for the shopping session. This continues until the shopper is ready to exit the store at which time the shopper can leave the store and have the server process payment for the transaction using a registered account. Alternatively, the shopper visits a payment station and provides cash or card to the station. The station reports the payment details and if cash change is due, the server instructs the station to dispense the correct change to the shopper.
