  • Patent number: 6789009
Abstract: The invention relates to a speed limiter in a vehicle. The speed limiting value which is to be complied with is set by activating a key (7) on an input device (8) one or more times. That speed limiting value of the predefined speed limiting values which is the next highest in relation to the current speed of the vehicle is selected. If the current speed of the vehicle is higher than the highest predefined speed limiting value, the speed of the vehicle plus a speed difference is accepted as the speed limiting value. In exceptional situations, the speed limiter can be temporarily suspended, it being possible for an exceptional situation to be, in particular, the upward transgression of the predefined speed limiting value or a (rapid) depression of the gas pedal.

  • Patent number: 6605773
Abstract: A thermoelectric generator includes a thermal generator to which thermal energy is provided from a heat source. In order to keep the output voltage of the thermal generator in a range suitable for charging a battery or for directly feeding into the vehicle's electrical system, the rate of heat production of the heat source and/or the cooling power of a cooling device for the thermal generator is controlled by a regulator. For this purpose, the regulator is connected to a temperature sensor which is mounted on the thermal generator. The regulator can be more cost-effectively configured than a D.C. converter between the output side of the thermal generator and the battery so that this converter can be dispensed with.

  • Patent number: 6574842
Abstract: A method for producing an ultrasound transducer having piezoelectric or electrostrictive ceramic elements (11) embedded in plastic, with reduced production costs. The ceramic elements (11) are ceramic rods (20) provided with a plastic jacket (21) of a constant thickness, and the jacketed ceramic rods (20) are organized, while standing upright, in a container (31) that is open on one side and is vibrated. The container (31), with the jacketed ceramic rods (20) is filled with a plastic, such as resin or PU. After hardening, the resulting composite body (12) is removed from the container (31), and its top side and/or underside (121, 122) is ground down until the ceramic rods (20) possess a length stipulated by the necessary transducer frequency. Electrodes contacting all or only groups of the ceramic rods (20) are subsequently mounted to the topside and underside (121, 122) of the composite body.

  • Publication number: 20030087724
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling an internal combustion engine, in which a normal state (A) is exited by switching off the engine (state B) if a standstill of the vehicle is detected (STOP_COND), and in which the engine is restarted when specific conditions (START_COND) apply. When a stop-and-go situation (SS_DISABLE) applies (state A′), this stop/start function is suppressed. Here, for example, repeated activation of the brakes, the engagement of specific gears and/or the spatial location of the motor vehicle may indicate that the vehicle is in a stop-and-go situation in which only brief, uneconomic switching off of the engine is probable.

  • Publication number: 20030023364
Abstract: The invention relates to the input of speed limiting values into a speed limiter in a vehicle. The speed limiting value which is to be complied with is set by activating a key (7) on an input device (8) one or more times. That speed limiting value of the predefined speed limiting values which is the next highest in relation to the current speed of the vehicle is selected. If the current speed of the vehicle is higher than the highest predefined speed limiting value, the speed limiter is deactivated or the speed of the vehicle plus a speed difference is accepted as the speed limiting value. In exceptional situations, the speed limiter can be temporarily suspended, it being possible for an exceptional situation to be, in particular, the upward transgression of the predefined speed limiting value or a rapid depression of the gas pedal.

  • Publication number: 20030000759
Abstract: A power supply arrangement for a vehicle having an electric motor includes a plurality of high-power batteries which are arranged within the vehicle and are connected to a motor regulator in a series circuit. A switch-off unit ensures that a fixed disconnection sequence is carried out when the motor vehicle is switched off, the motor regulator being first provided with the opportunity of reducing the power drain. Subsequently, a main circuit breaker, which disconnects the connection of the batteries to the outside, is opened first and then further circuit breakers, which are arranged between the batteries, are opened.

  • Publication number: 20030000750
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling the torque output of a starter, in particular a high-power starter generator during the starting process of an internal combustion engine, and a corresponding vehicle drive for carrying out the method. Since rotational speed sensors only provide a usable rotational speed signal after a delay, in a first phase of the starting operation a non fed-back control is formed which is replaced by fed-back regulation when usable rotation speed signals are present.

  • Publication number: 20020144925
Abstract: Transport packings made of plastic are usually manufactured as stable hollow bodies and serve to transport fluids. Due to electrostatic charges building up on the plastic bodies, electrical charges frequently arise, which represent an explosion risk. In order to exclude such risks, the plastic packing includes electrically conductive polymers. These polymers may be applied as paint to the outside of the plastic packing.

  • Patent number: 6344746
Abstract: Resistivity data acquired at two different epochs using different types of tools are jointly inverted. For example, a multiple propagation resistivity (MPR) tool is run first, preferably at several frequencies and several transmitter-receiver spacings. At a later epoch, an induction tool may be run, preferably on a wireline. The joint inversion process identifies bed boundaries based on inflection points in the propagation resistivity and induction logging raw data. An initial guess for an uninvaded earth model is generated using the selected bed boundaries and the apparent raw resistivity values. An inversion run using shallow measurements of propagation resistivity logging data is performed to estimate a resistivity structure representative of the near borehole zone resistivity (invaded zone). The bed boundary positions of the layers are also updated as part of the inversion process. Synthetic data for both the shallow and deep measurements are generated to delineate the invasion zones.

  • Patent number: 5259813
Abstract: The quality of the external air is determined by means of a pollutant sensor. The quality of the internal air is determined by calculation taking account of the air quantities introduced from outside into the internal space. A decision between air supply operation and air recirculation operation is then made on the basis of a comparison of the air qualities inside and outside. The pollutant sensor is preferably located in a casing whose internal space is accessible to gases through an opening which is preferably sealed by a gas-permeable membrane.

  • Patent number: 5102240
Abstract: A rotatable member (3) has on its outside surface a contoured surface portion (15) which widens conically upwards in diameter, is contiguous with a lubricant storage chamber (14) and extends axially to near a bearing (11) by which the rotatable member (3) is rotatably mounted in a housing (4). Lubricant discharging downwardly by gravity from the bearing (11) returns upwardly along the surface part (15) and reaches a zone which is below the bearing (11) and from which the same takes up lubricant. The bearing (11) is therefore supplied with lubricant during the rotation of the rotatable member (3) so that uniform lubrication in a thin layer is ensured. The mounting is used more particularly in a cap of a cap spinning machine or cap twisting machine.

  • Patent number: 5095690
Abstract: In the donning and doffing operation of a spinning machine, a tube (20) is pushed onto a packaged tube (14), whereby the thread (7) remains unbroken. The package (14) and the tube (20) are rotated together, until a few turns of the thread (7) are wound on to the tube (20). The tube (20) is subsequently held and the packaged tube containing the package (14) is removed. Subsequently, the empty spindle (15) is guided into the tube (20) for subsequent spinning operations without the necessity for removing overwindings which normally occur.
