  • Patent number: 9616756
Abstract: A retarder brake system of a vehicle combination including an agricultural tractor and an electrically driven trailer includes a drive train with a combustion engine, a vehicle transmission downstream from the combustion engine, a mechanical drive axle of the agricultural tractor connected to a first gear output of the transmission, a first electrical motor generator unit coupled to a second gear output, and an electrical drive axle of the trailer. The electrical drive axle is driven by means of a second electrical motor generator unit. The generator units are electrically connected with one another via a direct current link. In a retarder operation, the second electrical motor unit is operated with a generator and the first electrical generator unit is operated with a motor. At least part of the gross retarder output requested on the electrical drive axle is dissipatively destroyed as a power loss within the drive train.

  • Patent number: 9562592
Abstract: A method for controlling a power-split gear shift device in a vehicle by providing an electric variator and a transmission with variable gear shift and connecting a drive motor to a traction drive of the vehicle. The electric variator has a compound gear train with at least one first and at least one second electric machine. The method also includes providing a controller for the electric machines for steplessly varying a gear shift of the compound gear train. Upon detection of an external power requirement by an electric consumer, a gear shift region of the transmission with variable gear shift is set to operate the first electric machine in a generator mode and to operate the second electric machine to compensate for an existing power deficit or a power excess relative to an external power demand.

  • Publication number: 20160339951
Abstract: A device for the steering assistance of a vehicle combination of a towing vehicle and an attached implement in which the attached implement swivels at a rear coupling point of the towing vehicle. The implement includes wheels that are arranged on opposite sides, which can be acted on by the control of corresponding individual wheel drives, independently of one another, with a drive torque. An electronic control unit applies a yawing moment to the implement by the asymmetrical control of the individual wheel drives in such a way that a transverse force exerted on the towing vehicle through the rear coupling point, builds up in the sense of the attainment of a pre-specified steering behavior of the vehicle combination.

  • Publication number: 20160316621
Abstract: An energy management system for an agricultural vehicle arrangement includes an electric power supply unit for the supply of a large number of electrical consumers with electric power, and a consumption monitoring unit for the determination of a total energy demand dependent on an actual operating state of the electrical consumers. The consumption monitoring unit undertakes an estimate of the electric power supply available from the electric power supply unit and compares it to the determined total electric power demand in order to reduce the electric power supply to the electrical consumers as a function of assigned supply priorities when the available electric power supply is exceeded by the determined total energy demand. The consumption monitoring unit undertakes a dynamic adaptation of the supply priorities as a function of a changing cooling demand of a vehicle unit that is cooled by means of at least one of the electrical consumers.

  • Patent number: 9206885
Abstract: An infinitely variable transmission includes a clutch, a brake and a first planetary gear set, including first and second components, and a double planetary gear set, including input and output components and additional third and fourth components. The first component receives power from an engine. The double planetary set sums mechanical power from the first planetary set and an infinitely variable power source (“IVP”). The third component receives mechanical power from a IVP. The second component directly transmits power to the input component. The clutch directly controls power transmission between the first and second components. The brake engages the fourth component to stop its rotation. The output component receives mechanical power directly from the input component and the fourth component. During operation of the engine, controlled actuation of the brake and the clutch causes the output component to be powered by the infinitely variable power source but not by the engine.

  • Publication number: 20150183436
Abstract: A power train arrangement for a work vehicle with an engine may include an infinitely variable power source (“IVP”). An energy storage device may be configured to receive energy from the IVP for storage and to provide stored energy from the energy storage device to power one or more components of the IVP. A transmission may be configured to relay power from the engine and from the one or more components of the IVP to other components of the vehicle. A transient power event may be identified, during which a present operating state of the engine does not provide sufficient power for operations of the work vehicle. The energy storage device may be caused to provide stored energy to power the one or more components of the IVP source and thereby to provide power to the transmission.
