  • Patent number: 7727269
Abstract: A device is for introducing a stent into a hollow organ, in particular into the gastrointestinal tract of the body of a patient. The device includes a magnet system which covers the area of treatment of the patient and generates a 3D gradient field for remote-controlled movement and orientation of an endorobot. The endorobot is provided with a linear magnet and is freely movable in the hollow organ. Further, the stent, which can be uncoupled from the outside, is secured to the endorobot in a folded-down state so that it can be brought to the site of use and can there be opened out so as to bear firmly on the wall of the hollow organ.

  • Patent number: 7724931
Abstract: In a method for automated evaluation of a three-dimensional map of a laterally-symmetric organ system as well as medical image acquisition system and a computer program for this purpose, a three-dimensional image of the organ system is segmented, and the segmented organ system is deformed such that the deformed organ system has two mirror-symmetric halves with regard to its external shape. The differences between both mirror-symmetrical halves of the deformed organ system are determined by a comparison of one half with the other half. Alternatively, instead of the deformation of the segmented organ system a mirror-symmetric normal model of the organ system can be deformed, relative to the organ system, or vice versa, such that differences of corresponding regions of both halves of the organ system can be determined using the normal model. The determined differences are presented to a user.

  • Patent number: 7683330
Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining positron emission measurement information in the context of positron emission tomography. The method includes carrying out a positron emission measurement, in a body area of a subject to be examined, to record positron emission measurement information with point resolution and determining a time frame of the measurement by, at the same time, generating images of the body area to be examined with a relatively higher time resolution and with point-resolved image data, using a second imaging method. Further, a local shift of points of individual images of the second imaging method is determined, caused by movement processes of the subject to be examined, and as a function thereof, of the positron emission measurement information for at least a part of the measurement period and of the body area to be examined. Finally, the positron emission measurement information is adjusted as a function of the determined shift.

  • Patent number: 7673513
Abstract: The invention relates to a sensor device for monitoring accelerations to which an object is subjected. In order to detect whether a value has exceeded or is below a threshold for the acceleration to which objects have been subjected in the past, i.e. without having visual contact with the sensor, the inventive sensor device includes an acceleration sensor, which is permanently linked to the object to be monitored, so that a relative movement between the acceleration sensor and the object is prevented, and an RFID transceiver for non-contact coupling of electrical energy into the acceleration sensor and for sending out radio signals as a function of the physical state of the acceleration sensor.

  • Publication number: 20100030022
Abstract: A medical system has an endoscopy system and an extracorporeal imaging system and a patient positioning device. The endoscopy system includes an intracorporeally movable capsule that is navigable within the body of a patient by a magnetic coil system within a tube-like working volume formed by the magnetic coil system. An encapsulated imaging unit in the endoscopy capsule obtains image data associated with a medical finding. The spatial coordinates of the medical finding identified by the encapsulated imaging unit are relayed to the extracorporeal image acquisition system to allow an extracorporeal image to be obtained based on those spatial coordinates.

  • Patent number: 7572284
Abstract: A method is for automated localization of lesions in the gastrointestinal tract using laser light from an endorobot. The method includes recording of surface images of the gastrointestinal tract using the camera of the endorobot. Next, the surface images are transmitted to a computer. The surface images are then analyzed by the computer on the basis of lesion-specific features with regard to lesions to be irradiated. Thereafter, control signals are computed by the computer on the basis of a detected lesion, and the control signals are transmitted to an endorobot steering device and/or to a laser system located in the endorobot. Finally, the computed laser-beam orientation and size of the laser irradiation area are adjusted by the endorobot steering device and/or by the laser system, on the basis of the control signals.

  • Patent number: 7563233
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for providing haptic feedback representing tissue elasticity, measured data based on a measurement of the elasticity of body tissue in non-contacting fashion are supplied to a machine/human interface that conveys haptic feedback information to a user dependent on the measured data. The machine/human interface enables the user to perform a relative virtual motion around a starting point in a selected tissue region. The user can thus “feel” the elasticity of tissue that is not non-invasively accessible to a touch examination from the outside. A virtual boundary of a tissue region under examination can be defined and the user, by the haptic feedback, also feels if and when this virtual boundary is reached.

  • Patent number: 7555654
Abstract: A computer program product has a check routine and an active part. When the computer program product is called, a computer, while processing the check routine, initiates a transmitter to send a launch signal. A transponder receives this signal, checks whether a time-dependent and/or usage-dependent transmission condition is met and transmits an enable code as warranted. A receiver receives the enable code and communicates it to the computer. The computer checks the enable code and undertakes processing of the active part only when the enable code satisfies an enable condition.
