    Abstract: A surgical instrument includes a housing, a shaft, an end effector, a lead wire, and a first replaceable seal plate. The shaft extends distally from the housing. The end effector is supported adjacent a distal end of the shaft and includes a first jaw member and a second jaw member. One or both of the first jaw member or the second jaw member is movable relative to the other between an open position and an approximated position. The lead wire extends at least partially through the shaft and is adapted to connect to a source of electrosurgical energy. The first replaceable seal plate is configured for selective engagement with the first jaw member and configured for selective engagement with the lead wire. The first replaceable seal plate includes an electrically conductive portion and is configured for contacting tissue when engaged with the first jaw member.
