  • Patent number: 5545834
Abstract: Methods are disclosed for determining an analyte in a medium suspected of containing the analyte. One method comprises providing (1) combining a medium suspected of containing the analyte and a novel chemiluminescent compound, (2) combining a means for chemically activating the chemiluminescent compound; and (3) detecting the amount of luminescence generated by the chemiluminescent compound. The amount of luminescence generated is related to the amount of analyte in the medium. The chemiluminescent compound can be chemically activated by hydrogen peroxide. Compositions and kits are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4979553
Abstract: An improved slat assembly and curtain for a rolling door assembly employing the improved slat are provided. The slat assembly has a primary slat with a lower bead having a downwardly facing cavity which is used to retain an elastomeric sealing strip which seals the space between adjacent interlocked slats in the curtain. The slat assembly may be provided with a backer slat and material filling a void between the primary slat and backer slat to improve the thermal insulation and/or acoustical insulation and absorption properties of the slat assembly and curtain.

  • Patent number: 4419533
Abstract: There is disclosed new and improved photovoltaic devices which provide increased short circuit currents and efficiencies over that previously obtainable from prior devices. The disclosed devices include incident radiation directing means for directing at least a portion of the incident light through the active region or regions thereof at angles sufficient to substantially confine the directed radiation in the devices. This allows substantially total utilization of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. Further, because the light is directed through the active region or regions at such angles, the active regions can be made thinner to also increase collection efficiencies. The incident radiation directors can be random surface or bulk reflectors to provide random scattering of the light, or periodic surface or bulk reflector to provide selective scattering of the light.
