Patent number: 10769103Abstract: A first list is received including locations of blocks of a file system that changed between current and previous backups. A superblock of the file system is read to generate a second list including locations of metadata records representing file objects. The first and second lists are intersected to return a third list including locations listed in the first and second lists. The locations in the third list are changed metadata records. A metadata record as of the current backup and identified in the third list is read. A previous version of the metadata record as of the previous backup is read. The current and previous metadata record versions are compared to detect potential conditions occurring between the backups. Upon detection of a first type of condition, information about the condition is recorded. Upon detection of a second type of condition, information about the condition is not recorded.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2017Date of Patent: September 8, 2020Assignee: EMC IP Holding Company LLCInventors: Kedar Patwardhan, Rajesh Nair

Patent number: 10723614Abstract: A device, such as a MEMS device, with stress tuning to achieve a desired stack stress across the wafer. The stress tuning includes trimming a stress compensation layer over a target layer having different stresses in different target layer regions. The trimming may include ion beam trimming to produce a stress compensation layer having different thicknesses over the different target layer regions to balance the stress of the target layer to a desired stress. The desired stress may result in almost zero residual stress to produce an almost flat MEMS device.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2017Date of Patent: July 28, 2020Assignee: VANGUARD INTERNATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR SINGAPORE PTE. Patent number: 10705756Abstract: A method includes identifying a state of an application and taking a snapshot of application data. The method continues to generate a virtual filter input/output snapshot from I/O filter records for the snapshot. The filer records are generated by a filter driver that intercepts I/Os between the application and disks that store application data. The method further includes releasing the snapshot, resuming the application and performing a backup using the virtual filter I/O snapshot. Finally, the method triggers the filter driver to replace multiple filter driver records corresponding to the virtual filter I/O snapshot with data indicating the application data was backed up using the virtual filter I/O snapshot.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2018Date of Patent: July 7, 2020Assignee: EMC IP HOLDING COMPANY LLCInventors: Kedar Patwardhan, Rajesh Nair

Publication number: 20200117365Abstract: Embodiments are described for dynamically modifying backup policy of an application using changes in metrics of a data set generated by the application and/or user-specified rules. Each application can have its own backup policy having a protection level that determines a frequency of backup for the application data set. An application can have an initial backup policy. An application backup policy can be based on the application type, a percent of change to the data set since the last backup, a size of the data set, or other metric. A user can specify a rule for the backup policy and protection level for the application. The backup policy or protection level can be dynamically updated in response to changes in the data set or a user-specified rule, on a per-application basis.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2018Publication date: April 16, 2020Inventors: Kedar Patwardhan, Rajesh Nair

Publication number: 20190292524Abstract: The invention relates to the methods to increase populations of cancer stem cells (CSCs), including human CSCs, using, for example, a FiSS™ (fiber-inspired smart scaffold) platform, a scaffold for cell culture comprising an electrospun mixture of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) and a block copolymer of polylactic acid (PLA) and monomethoxypolyethylene glycol (mPEG). As an example, we demonstrated that MCF-7 cells grown on FiSScsc developed into well-formed single-cell tumoroids (SCTs), showing a ˜3-fold increase in the cancer stem cell (CSC) population versus similar-passage cells grown as monolayers. This increase was further potentiated when the first-generation tumoroids were used to grow second- and third-generation tumoroids. Additionally, we scaled-up the cell culturing protocol from, for example, a 96-well plate to, for example, a 6-well plate, with no loss in the induction of CSCs.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2017Publication date: September 26, 2019Inventors: Rajesh NAIR, Mazen HANNA, Subhra MOHAPATRA, Shyam MOHAPATRA, Ryan GREEN
