  • Publication number: 20150032998
Abstract: An apparatus and method is described herein for providing speculation control instructions. An xAcquire and xRelease instruction are provided to define a critical section. In one embodiment, the xAcquire instruction includes a lock instruction with an elision prefix and the xRelease instruction includes a lock release instruction with an elision prefix. As a result, a processor is able to elide locks and transactionally execute a critical section defined in software by xAcquire and xRelease. But by adding only prefix hints, legacy processor are able to execute the same code by just ignoring the hints and executing the critical section traditionally with locks to guarantee mutual exclusion. Moreover, xBegin and xEnd are similarly provided for in an Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) to define a transactional code region.

  • Patent number: 8914520
Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes receiving a request to authenticate an end user in a service provider network, and evaluating the request to identify the end user as belonging to an enterprise network. A tag is generated for a packet associated with a flow for the end user in the enterprise network. Routing occurs for subsequent packets associated with the flow between the enterprise network and the end user. The subsequent packets associated with the flow are not routed through the service provider network. In more particular embodiments, the end user is authenticated in the enterprise network after being authenticated in the service provider network. In addition, traffic for the end user can be separated based on one or more tags identified within the flow. A plurality of flows can be classified based on a customer identification (CID). The tag can be a virtual local area network (VLAN) tag generated at a base station.

  • Patent number: 8834175
Abstract: A training portal facilitates an agent's management of training courses, including reviewing a training goal, indicating training courses available for the agent to download, downloading a specified training course to the agent, and receiving uploaded test results associated with a previously downloaded training course. The training portal may cooperate with an e-learning system for identifying downloadable courses, and may cooperate with a content delivery system for receiving the specified course which is to be downloaded to the agent. At a subsequent time, after the agent has interacted with a testing portion of the downloadable course, the agent may upload the test results to the portal. The training portal may be configured to receive test results uploaded within a certain time period. Once the training portal receives the test results, it provides the test results to the content delivery source. The content delivery source may then update the e-learning system.

  • Patent number: 8769626
Abstract: Techniques are provided for performing web authentication of mobile wireless devices that roam from a wireless wide area network to a wireless local area network. A redirect rule is invoked when a request is received from the mobile wireless device for world wide web access in order to obtain authentication for the mobile wireless device before permitting world wide web access. When a world wide web access request is received from the mobile wireless device, it is redirected to an authentication portal to allow a user of the mobile wireless device to enter user credentials to allow for world wide web access using the IP address.

  • Publication number: 20140174439
Abstract: A nozzle comprising a thin, flexible substantially planar polymeric film having a plurality of pores with structures allowing for generation of an aerosol at reduced extrusion pressure is disclosed. The pores can comprise at least two sections, or steps, in which the thickness of the membrane is reduced in stepwise fashion, or the pores can be tapered. Nozzles formed comprising pores having such structures permit aerosol generation at lower extrusion pressures, thereby allowing for decreased weight of aerosolization devices, increased efficiency, increased portability and increased battery life. The pore structures also allow for the use of thicker, more easily processed polymeric films in manufacturing while having a thinner, more efficient aerosolization area. The use of decreased extrusion pressures also results in increased uniformity in aerosol generation and improved reliability of other components.

  • Publication number: 20140181377
Abstract: Described is a technique for managing the content of a nonvolatile solid-state memory data cache to improve cache performance while at the same time, and in a complementary manner, providing for automatic wear leveling. A modified circular first-in first-out (FIFO) log/algorithm is generally used to determine cache content replacement. The algorithm is used as the default mechanism for determining cache content to be replaced when the cache is full but is subject to modification in some instances. In particular, data are categorized according to different data classes prior to being written to the cache, based on usage. Once cached, data belonging to certain classes are treated differently than the circular FIFO replacement algorithm would dictate. Further, data belonging to each class are localized to designated regions within the cache.

  • Patent number: 8737434
Abstract: An IP network includes a central entity and at least one customer premises equipment (CPE) device. The central entity generates a program clock reference (PCR) clock and provides audio-visual packets to a CPE based on the PCR clock. The CPE sets a first clock based on the PCR clock for decoding operations. The CPE sets a second clock that is independent from the first clock for audio and video output operations. For example, the CPE can process the audio-visual packets using the second clock.

  • Publication number: 20140114878
Abstract: A system aggregates data that may be used during the course of a scheduled meeting and allows for the customization of the data for presentation during the scheduled meeting. The system communicates the customized data to meeting participants for discussion and review. The system also accepts inputs during the meeting that define additional meeting information such as bookmarked pages and views that were reviewed during the meeting. The inputs may further define notes reflecting discussions held during the meeting. The system stores information reflecting the bookmarks and notes that were made during the meeting. After the meeting has concluded, the data that was presented during the meeting as well as the bookmarks and notes that were presented during the meeting may be reviewed and selected for inclusion in an electronic document. The document may then be electronically communicated to the participants in the meeting for reference at a later time.

  • Publication number: 20140059333
Abstract: An apparatus and method is described herein for providing robust speculative code section abort control mechanisms. Hardware is able to track speculative code region abort events, conditions, and/or scenarios, such as an explicit abort instruction, a data conflict, a speculative timer expiration, a disallowed instruction attribute or type, etc. And hardware, firmware, software, or a combination thereof makes an abort determination based on the tracked abort events. As an example, hardware may make an initial abort determination based on one or more predefined events or choose to pass the event information up to a firmware or software handler to make such an abort determination. Upon determining an abort of a speculative code region is to be performed, hardware, firmware, software, or a combination thereof performs the abort, which may include following a fallback path specified by hardware or software.

  • Publication number: 20140056290
Abstract: Multi-operator networking techniques are provided for allowing two or more operators to share a wireless local area network (WLAN). In particular, mobile access gateway functionality is integrated in a wireless network controller of a WLAN that is accessible to first and second operators. Operator-specific tunnels are created through the network for each of the first and second operators that link a core network of each of the first and second operators with an associated client device. Packets are then forwarded between the core networks of the first and second operators and their associated client devices via the operator-specific tunnels.
