  • Patent number: 10708185
Abstract: A first network device advertises routes of locally connected routes/subnetworks based on the connectivity of the host with respect to peer network devices. The first network device establishes a virtual port channel associated with a virtual network address. The virtual port channel includes the first network device associated with a first network address and a second network device associated with a second network address. The first network device detects that a host is connected to the first network device and determines a next hop address to associate with the host. The next hop address is determined based on whether the host is also connected to the second network device of the virtual port channel. The first network device generates a route advertisement associating the next hop address with the host.

  • Patent number: 10705867
Abstract: A hypervisor-exchange process includes: suspending, by an “old” hypervisor, resident virtual machines; exchanging the old hypervisor for a new hypervisor, and resuming, by the new hypervisor, the resident virtual machines. The suspending can include “in-memory” suspension of the virtual machines until the virtual machines are resumed by the new hypervisor. Thus, there is no need to load the virtual machines from storage prior to the resuming. As a result, any interruption of the virtual machines is minimized. In some embodiments, the resident virtual machines are migrated onto one or more host virtual machines to reduce the number of virtual machines being suspended.

  • Patent number: 10706005
Abstract: Exemplary methods, apparatuses, and systems include a distributed memory agent within a first node intercepting an operating system request to open a file from an application running on the first node. The request includes a file identifier, which the distributed memory agent transmits to a remote memory manager. The distributed memory agent receives, from the remote memory manager, a memory location within a second node for the file identifier and information to establish a remote direct memory access channel between the first node and the second node. In response to the request to open the file, the distributed memory agent establishes the remote direct memory access channel between the first node and the second node. The remote direct memory access channel allows the first node to read directly from or write directly to the memory location within the second node while bypassing an operating system of the second node.

  • Patent number: 10705954
Abstract: Techniques for efficiently purging non-active blocks in an NVM region of an NVM device while preserving large pages are provided. In one set of embodiments, a host system can receive a write request with respect to a data block of the NVM region, where the data block is referred to by a snapshot of the NVM region and was originally allocated as part of a large page. The host system can further allocate a new data block in the NVM region, copy contents of the data block to the new data block, and update the data block with write data associated with the write request. The host system can then update a level 1 (L1) page table entry of the NVM region's running point to point to the original data block.

  • Patent number: 10705756
Abstract: A method includes identifying a state of an application and taking a snapshot of application data. The method continues to generate a virtual filter input/output snapshot from I/O filter records for the snapshot. The filer records are generated by a filter driver that intercepts I/Os between the application and disks that store application data. The method further includes releasing the snapshot, resuming the application and performing a backup using the virtual filter I/O snapshot. Finally, the method triggers the filter driver to replace multiple filter driver records corresponding to the virtual filter I/O snapshot with data indicating the application data was backed up using the virtual filter I/O snapshot.

  • Publication number: 20200210619
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for detecting sensitive personal information in a storage device. A block delta list containing a list of changed blocks in the storage device is processed. After identifying the changed blocks from the block delta list, a search is performed on those identified changed blocks for sensitive personal information using a character scanning technique. After identifying a changed block deemed to contain sensitive personal information, the changed block is translated from the block level to the file level using a hierarchical reverse mapping technique. By only analyzing the changed blocks to determine if they contain sensitive personal information, a lesser quantity of blocks needs to be processed in order to detect sensitive personal information in the storage device in near real-time. In this manner, sensitive personal information is detected in the storage device using fewer computing resources in a shorter amount of time.

  • Publication number: 20200210431
Abstract: from a first attribute-value pair in a record, new data is created including a first token. Using a first model and using a processor and a memory, each token is vectorized into new data including a corresponding vector. From the record, a target row is selected, wherein a target attribute-value pair in the target row includes a value for which a semantic similarity computation is to be performed. Using a similarity measure, a set of most similar rows to the target row is determined, wherein each row in the set of most similar rows to the target row has a corresponding similarity measure above a threshold similarity measure and wherein each row in the set of most similar rows includes the target attribute. The set of most similar rows is used to compute a response to a database query.
