  • Patent number: 9135101
Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for resetting a controller in a Single Root Input/Output Virtualization (SR-IOV) architecture. The architecture includes a physical function that periodically issues a heartbeat command to a physical function of an SR-IOV controller, starts a first timer, determines a firmware failure of the controller upon expiration of the first timer, and issues a command to reset the firmware of the controller. The architecture also includes a plurality of a virtual function drivers coupled to a plurality of virtual functions of the controller. Each virtual function driver periodically issues a heartbeat command to its corresponding virtual function, starts a second timer having a duration that is less than a duration of the first timer, determines a firmware failure of the controller upon expiration of the second timer, and pauses input/output operations to its corresponding virtual function until the firmware of the controller is reset.

  • Patent number: 9136733
Abstract: A system switches between application of a first supply voltage and a second supply voltage to a load. The second supply voltage is a regulated voltage that is generated from the first supply voltage, or is alternatively generated from a reference voltage, such as bandgap. When the load is supplied from the first supply voltage, the regulated voltage is also generated from the first supply voltage. At or after switching the load to the second supply voltage, the regulated voltage is generated instead from the reference voltage. The load is a clock circuit, such as an oscillator. The controlled switching of the supply voltage for the load in the manner described addresses concerns over introducing errors in the output clock signal when the clock circuit's supply voltage is changed.

  • Patent number: 9135171
Abstract: Page data of a virtual machine is represented for efficient save and restore operations. One form of representation applies to each page with an easily identifiable pattern. The page is described, saved, and restored in terms of metadata reflective of the pattern rather than a complete page of data reflecting the pattern. During a save or restore operation, however, the metadata of the page is represented, but not the page data. Another form of representation applies to each page sharing a canonical instance of a complex pattern that is instantiated in memory during execution, and explicitly saved and restored. Each page sharing the canonical page is saved and restored as a metadata reference, without the need to actually save redundant copies of the page data.

  • Patent number: 9136873
Abstract: Uncorrectable memory errors may be reduced by determining a logical array address for a set of memory arrays and transforming the logical array address to at least two unique array addresses based, at least in part, on logical locations of at least two memory arrays within the set of memory arrays. The at least two memory arrays are then accessed using the at least two unique array addresses, respectively.

  • Patent number: 9137285
Abstract: A system for adaptive audio video (AV) stream processing may include at least one processor and a switch device. The switch device may be configured to route AV traffic to the processor, and to receive AV traffic from the processor and provide the AV traffic to a client device via one or more channels. The processor may monitor a transcoder buffer depth and depths of buffers associated with channels over which the AV traffic is being transmitted. The processor may adaptively modify one or more attributes associated with the AV traffic based at least on the monitored buffer depths. For example, the processor may adaptively adjust a bit rate associated with transcoding the AV traffic based at least on the transcoder buffer depth. The processor may utilize the depths of the buffers associated with the channels to adaptively adjust the amount of AV traffic provided for transmission over the channels.

  • Patent number: 9135289
Abstract: Identifying matching transactions. First and second log files contain operation records of transactions in a transaction workload, each file recording a respective execution of the transaction workload, the method comprising. A first record location in the first file and an associated window of a defined number of sequential second record locations in the second file are advanced one record location at a time. Whether each operation record of a complete transaction at a first record location has a matching operation record at one of the record locations in the associated window of second record locations is determined. If so, the complete transaction in the first file and the transaction that includes the matching operation records in the second file are identified as matching transactions.

  • Patent number: 9135283
Abstract: The values of various operating and/or configuration parameters of a data environment are managed using a set of self-service Web services and interfaces of a separate control environment. A customer can submit a Web services call into an externally-facing application programming interface (API) or other such externally-facing interface of the control environment. The API receiving the call, as well as information extracted from the call, can be used to determine appropriate adjustments to be performed in the data environment. A workflow can be instantiated that includes tasks used to validate and/or apply the adjustments to the target resources, such as databases, data instances, data stores, instance classes, etc. Various real-time functions such as monitoring and auto-scaling also can be performed via the control plane.

  • Publication number: 20150254593
Abstract: Reference intelligence tasks are automatically generated for subsequent utilization in crowdsourced processing of intelligence tasks. Reference intelligence tasks are categorized into predetermined categories, including categories defined by an intended utilization of such intelligence tasks. A trusted set of workers are provided with intelligence tasks and, if a specified number of those trusted workers reach consensus as to what is an appropriate answer, then such an answer is a definitive answer. Conversely, if no consensus is initially reached, then additional trusted workers can be utilized to determine if, in combination, consensus can be reached. To frame categorization considerations by the trusted set of workers, they are provided with statistics relevant to categorizations. An automatic category assignment, or reassignment, can be performed if necessary.
