Abstract: One aspect of this disclosure relates to a system for dynamic battery management in implantable medical devices. An embodiment of the system includes two or more devices for measuring battery capacity for an implantable medical device battery. The embodiment also includes a controller connected to the measuring devices. The controller is adapted to combine the measurements from the measuring devices using a weighted average to determine battery capacity consumed. According to various embodiments, at least one of the measuring devices includes a coulometer. At least one of the measuring devices includes a capacity-by-voltage device, according to an embodiment. The system further includes a display in communication with the controller in various embodiments. The display is adapted to provide a depiction of battery longevity in units of time remaining in the life of the implantable medical device battery, according to various embodiments. Abstract: A system and related method of operation for migrating the memory of a virtual machine from one NUMA node to another. Once the VM is migrated to a new node, migration of memory pages is performed while giving priority to the most utilized pages, so that access to these pages becomes local as soon as possible. Various heuristics are described to enable different implementations for different situations or scenarios.

Abstract: A method of generating a test database from a deployed database by “sanitizing”, or removing sensitive data, is employed for recreating problem scenarios from a customer site, verifying compatibility of customer data with database version updates, and for performance testing using actual, rather than generated, database structures. In database management operations, in can be beneficial to use data generated from actual operational scenarios rather than artificially generated data created from a test pattern. Data generated from actual operation, such has at a customer site, assures compatibility with the relation patterns and record volumes employed by the customer (user). However, databases often contain sensitive information that would be inappropriate, illegal, or vulnerable in a testing environment. Accordingly, the generated test database overwrites sensitive data values with benign, or generic values while preserving the structure and relations of the data stored.

Abstract: A protective chuck is disposed on a substrate with a gas bearing layer between the bottom surface of the protective chuck and the substrate surface. The gas bearing layer protects a surface region against a fluid layer covering the substrate surface. The protection of the gas bearing is a non-contact protection, reducing or eliminating potential damage to the substrate surface due to friction. The gas bearing can enable combinatorial processing of a substrate, providing multiple isolated processing regions on a single substrate with different material and processing conditions.

Abstract: Aspects of the invention pertain to analyzing and modifying access control lists that are used in computer networks. Access control lists may have many individual entries that indicate whether information can be passed between certain devices in a computer network. The access control lists may include redundant or conflicting entries. An aspect of the invention converts an order-dependent control list into an order-free equivalent. Redundant entries are identified and removed without adversely affecting the access control list. Redundancy may be identified by evaluating the volume contraction ratio, which is the ratio of the volume of spin-off entries to specific original entry in the access control list. This ratio reflects the extent of order-dependent impact on that entry in a given access control list.

Abstract: The entry and transmission of notes to recipients along the conversation chain. Notes can be created based on an incoming caller. The notes can be transmitted to the conversation recipient for viewing before, during, and after the recipient accepts the conversation. This is facilitated by a communications client that operates to allow entry of the notes, and forwarding of the call recipient via a SIP framework. Moreover, notes previously taken and/or information provided manually and/or automatically by the communications system can be provided to an agent (e.g., ACD, receptionist) receiving the conversation, at any point in the conversation chain for quick identification not only of the conversation source but of previous information already collected.

Abstract: A biosensor that utilizes carbon nanotubes functionalized with a protein sequence. One domain of the multifunctional peptide sequence noncovalently binds to the surface of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), while a second domain of the sequence recognizes and binds to a target molecule. The sequence of the peptide may be tailored to allow it to recognize and bind to specific target molecules, such as chemicals, biological materials, and explosives. The binding of the target molecule to the peptide may alter a material property of the SWNTs.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving from a server, flow data for a plurality of flows at a network device, the flow data comprising for each flow, a destination address and a time indicating when a last packet was processed for the flow at the server, updating a flow table at the network device, identifying one of the flows in the flow table as an inactive flow, and removing a route for the inactive flow from a forwarding information base at the network device. An apparatus and logic are also disclosed herein.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a handoff between technologies are disclosed. An intra-technology handoff occurs where the same integrated chassis handles the session for the different access technologies. In an intra-technology handoff, the same IP address and the session can be maintained through the handoff. The mobile node can undergo a handoff without issuing a registration request in some embodiments. An inter-technology handoff occurs from one integrated chassis to another integrated chassis. The integrated chassis can preserve session and context information in a session manager and in a handoff from one access technology to another the same session manager can be chosen with the session and context information remaining intact even though the access technology has changed. The integrated chassis can provide an access technology handoff where the core network does not notice any change and applications running on or delivered to the mobile node are not effected.

Abstract: The invention provides peptide compositions and mixtures useful for the detection of antibodies that bind to Ehrlichia antigens. The peptide compositions and mixtures comprise polypeptide sequences based on an immunogenic fragment of the Ehrlichia Outer Membrane Protein 1 (OMP-1) protein. The invention also provides devices, methods, and kits comprising such peptide compositions and mixtures useful for the detection of antibodies that bind to Ehrlichia antigens and the diagnosis of monocytic and/or granulocytic ehrlichiosis.

Abstract: Wrapper for cigarette manufacture includes transversely extending band regions applied by a printing technique, such as gravure printing. The band regions comprise starch, an anti-wrinkling agent such as 1,2 propylene glycol or glycerin, and optionally calcium carbonate. Any suitable printing technique can be used to apply the aqueous solution to the banded regions. The pattern of banded regions may be bands, stripes, two-dimensional arrays, undulated regions, and the like along and/or around the tobacco rod. The pattern can be applied in one or more layers. The pattern may be configured so that when a smoking article is placed on a substrate, at least two longitudinal locations along the length of the tobacco rod have film-forming compound located only on sides of the smoking article not in contact with the substrate.

Abstract: Aspects of a data environment, such as the creation, provisioning, and management of data stores and instances, are managed using a separate control environment. A user can call into an externally-facing interface of the control environment, the call being analyzed to determine actions to be performed in the data environment. A monitoring component of the control plane also can periodically communicate with the data environment to determine any necessary actions to be performed, such as to recover from faults or events in the data environment. A workflow can be instantiated that includes tasks necessary to perform the action. For each task, state information can be passed to a component in the data environment operable to perform the task, until all tasks for an action are completed. Data in the data environment can be accessed directly using an externally-facing interface of the data environment, without accessing the control plane.
