  • Patent number: 8429235
Abstract: E-mail addresses are converted by a hashing function into hash codes. An e-mail mass mailer that can have millions of addresses hash codes all addresses to which a message might be sent to form a first list. An entity that wishes to exclude delivery of a message to various e-mail addresses, hash codes such addresses to form a second list. Hash codes in the first list that are also in the second list are purged from the first list to yield a third list of hash codes, each of which represents an e-mail address to which a message may be sent.

  • Publication number: 20130097600
Abstract: An approach is provided in which a local module receives a data frame initiated by a first virtual machine and has a target destination at a second virtual machine, which executes on a destination host system. The local module identifies a destination local port ID and a destination global queue pair number corresponding to the second virtual machine. In one embodiment, the destination local port ID corresponds to the destination host, but the destination global queue pair number is independent of the destination host. The local module includes the destination global queue pair number and the destination local port ID in an overlay header and encapsulates the data frame with the overlay header, which results in an encapsulated frame. In turn, the local module sends the encapsulated frame through a computer network to the second virtual machine.

  • Patent number: 8423583
Abstract: A user-interface method of selecting and presenting a collection of content items based on user navigation and selection actions associated with the content is provided. The method includes associating a relevance weight on a per user basis with content items to indicate a relative measure of likelihood that the user desires the content item. The method includes receiving a user's navigation and selections actions for identifying desired content items, and in response, adjusting the associated relevance weight of the selected content item and group of content items containing the selected item. The method includes, in response to subsequent user input, selecting and presenting a subset of content items and content groups to the user ordered by the adjusted associated relevance weights assigned to the content items and content groups.

  • Patent number: 8423568
Abstract: Described is a technology for automatically generating labeled training data for training a classifier based upon implicit information associated with the data. For example, whether a query has commercial intent can be classified based upon whether the query was submitted at a commercial website's search portal, as logged in a toolbar log. Positive candidate query-related data is extracted from the toolbar log based upon the associated implicit information. A click log is processed to obtain negative query-related data. The labeled training data is automatically generated by separating at least some of the positive candidate query data from the remaining positive candidate query data based upon the negative query data. The labeled training data may be used to train a classifier, such as to classify an online search query as having a certain type of intent or not.

  • Publication number: 20130090946
Abstract: An imaging workflow system includes a workstation for acquiring patient information and requesting a patient scan. The request for a patient scan includes scan information for performing the scan. A registration module receives the scan information and the patient information. The registration module automatically schedules the patient scan based on the scan information and the patient information. The registration module determines an imaging protocol based on the patient information and the scan information. An imaging module within an imaging system receives the imaging protocol. The imaging module automatically sets scan parameters based on the imaging protocol. The imaging system scans the patient based on the scan parameters to acquire image data. • Publication number: 20130091349
Abstract: Techniques are provided to append packet handling information “in the clear” ahead of security related information in a packet to be routed over a network to optimize wide area network deployments of security-configured equipment. In one form, at a network device that performs connectionless secure communication and network routing of packets, data is received from a source device to be sent through a network to a destination device. Packet handling information is inserted in a packet that is to be used to transport the data. The packet handling information is configured to enable controlled handling of the packet in the network and is inserted in an unprotected portion of the packet. Encrypted payload data is generated from the data received from the source device. The encrypted payload data and security information are inserted in a protected portion of the packet and the packet is sent to the network.

  • Patent number: 8417798
Abstract: Deploying artifacts and tools in cloud computing environment for provisioning packaged software applications generates a user interface code automatically and dynamically using information from at least structural data representations of cloud computing environment and base configuration requirements for running one or more packaged software applications in the cloud computing environment. In one aspect, the automatically generated code may be augmented using one or more library codes and auxiliary files. Specific configuration requirements are further obtained by running the automatically generated user interface code. One or more components to deploy in the cloud computing environment are determined that meet the base configuration requirements and the specific configuration requirements, by analyzing the structural data representations.

  • Patent number: 8417549
Abstract: A system and method are described for intelligently sourcing demand forecasts within a supply chain management (“SCM”) system based on a constrained supply chain model, in light of material and resource constraints. For example, a computer implemented method according to one embodiment of the invention comprises: calculating a demand forecast identifying anticipated demand for a product over a specified time period; identifying current sales orders for the product with delivery dates scheduled during the specified time period; generating an open forecast for the product based on the current sales orders and the anticipated demand; and sourcing different percentages of the open forecast from different plants, the percentages selected based on supply chain material and/or resource constraints. In addition, after the demand forecast is sourced, one embodiment of the invention employs additional techniques for intelligently sourcing new sales orders entering the SCM system.

  • Patent number: 8416845
Abstract: Methods and circuits for automatic adjustment of equalization are presented that improve the quality of equalization for input signals with varying amplitudes. The methods and circuits may be used in Decision Feedback Equalization (DFE) circuits to maintain a constant equalization boost amplitude despite variations in input signal amplitude. The equalization circuitry measures the amplitude of the equalization input signal and computes tap coefficients to maintain a desired level of boost amplitude. Tap coefficients may be automatically adjusted by the equalization circuitry.

  • Patent number: 8417717
Abstract: Methods and systems for incrementally selecting and providing relevant search engines in response to a user query. A method of incrementally selecting and providing relevant search engines is based in part on identifying a set of search engines associated with corresponding metadata, receiving a partial search query entered by the user of a device, inferring after each user keypress a set of potential full queries intended by the user, using the potential full queries and the search engine metadata to identify a set of relevant search engines, and for each of these search engines, providing a direct link to launch a relevant query in the search engine. The user input may be either ambiguous, or erroneous, and may be entered using an input-constrained device.

  • Publication number: 20130083690
Abstract: An approach is provided in which a discovery system receives a migration request to move a virtual machine that executes on a first system. The discovery system identifies a first network adapter corresponding to the first system, and identifies hardware state data used by the first network adapter to process data packets generated by the virtual machine. In turn, the discovery system identifies a second network adapter that is compatible with a native format of the hardware state data, and migrates the virtual machine to a second system corresponding to the identified second network adapter.

  • Publication number: 20130086318
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for safe management of data storage using a VM are provided in the illustrative embodiments. An I/O request is received from the VM. A determination is made whether the I/O request requests a data manipulation on the data storage in an address range that overlaps with an address range of a VM signature stored on the data storage. In response to determining that the address range of the data manipulation overlaps with the address range of the VM signature, a determination is made whether an identifier of the VM matches an identifier of a second VM associated with the signature. In response to determining that the identifier of the VM does not match the identifier of the second VM, the I/O request is failed, thereby preventing an unsafe overwriting of the signature on the data storage.
