  • Publication number: 20080288055
Abstract: The disclosure relates to an expandable valve prosthesis for regulating flow through a body vessel. The prosthesis comprises a frame configured to form a laterally asymmetric partial sinus and a valve member.

  • Patent number: 7172580
Abstract: An iris-type valve assembly comprises a base, a rotatable member, and an elongated elastomeric valve sheath. The distal end of the valve sheath is secured to the base, and the proximal end of the valve sheath is secured to the rotatable member. At least one of the valve sheath ends includes a flange that is secured to a valve-receiving surface of the base or the rotatable member. The base and the rotatable member are aligned to define a passageway therethrough for passage of an interventional device. The valve sheath is disposed along the passageway and has a longitudinal opening therethrough for passage of the interventional device. Upon rotation of the rotatable member relative to the base, the longitudinal opening of the valve sheath is selectively constrictable to comprise a seal around the interventional device.

  • Patent number: 6416499
Abstract: A valve (10) useful as a fluid flow check valve or as a self-sealing, penetrable, hemostatic valve for sealing a catheter introducer (12) includes a seal (26) which is highly resistant to tearing and leakage, yet is capable of accepting repeated penetrations by devices of a wide variety of diameters. The seal (26) is disk-shaped and is composed of a thermoplastic styrenic elastomer, such as a styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene block copolymer, of very low durometer (a hardness of no more than about 30 Shore A). The seal (26) is preferably contained in a valve body (40) and is disposed between a valve seat (48) in the valve body (40) and a cap (56) connected to the valve body (40) and becomes deflected upon assembly of the valve. The seal (26) includes at least one perforation (34) closed by such deflection.

  • Patent number: 5399165
Abstract: A drainage catheter with a distal member end that is lockable in a desired loop configuration for retaining the catheter in a body cavity such as the bladder. The lockable drainage catheter includes a flexible tension member for drawing the distal member end into a loop. The tension member extends through a lockable connector positioned about the proximal member end. The lockable connector includes a resilient material sleeve with a sleeve passage extending longitudinally therethrough for positioning the tension member therein. The sleeve is positioned in a passage of the connector adjacent a channel wherein a pivotedly attached lever is positioned. When the lever is pivoted toward the connector into a fixed position, a cam surface of the lever compresses the sleeve and locks thereabout to maintain the loop formed in the distal member end.
