  • Publication number: 20190197391
Abstract: Systems and methods may apply homeostatic plasticity control in a spiking neural network, such as at a neuron of a core of the spiking neural network. The neuron may receive input spike information and determine whether to activate an output spike at the neuron based at least in part on the input spike information and a bias value. The bias value may be set based on whether the neuron issued a previous output spike during a previous time period. The bias value may be updated based on whether the output spike was activated at the neuron. For example, in accordance with a determination to activate the output spike, the bias value may be decreased, and in accordance with a determination to not activate the output spike, the bias value may be increased.

  • Patent number: 10250571
Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to support a mechanism to offload IPSec/IKE processing of virtual machines (VMs) running on a host to an embedded networking device, which serves as a hardware accelerator for the VMs that need to have secured communication with a remote device/server over a network. By utilizing a plurality of its software and hardware features, the embedded networking device is configured to perform all offloaded IPSec operations on data packets transferred between the host and the remote device over the network as required for the secured communication before the data packets can be transmitted over the network. The embedded networking device, in effect, acts as a proxy on behalf of the VMs running on the host to perform the offloaded IPSec operations as well as serving as the network interface for the secured communication between the VMs and the remote device.

  • Publication number: 20190042910
Abstract: System and techniques for spike timing dependent plasticity (STDP) in neuromorphic hardware are described herein. A first spike may be received, at a first neuron at a first time, from a second neuron. The first neuron may produce a second spike at a second time after the first time. At a third time after the second time, the first neuron may receive a third spike from the second neuron. Here, the third spike is a replay of the first spike with a defined time offset. The first neuron may then perform long term potentiation (LTP) for the first spike using the third spike.

  • Patent number: 10095558
Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to support a mechanism to offload all aspects of inline SSL processing of an application running on a server/host to an embedded networking device such as a Network Interface Card (NIC), which serves as a hardware accelerator for all applications running on the server that need to have a secure connection with a remote client device over a network. By utilizing a plurality of its software and hardware features, the embedded networking device is configured to process all SSL operations of the secure connection inline, i.e., the SSL operations are performed as packets are transferred between the host and the client over the network, rather than having the SSL operations offloaded to the NIC, which then returns the packets to the host (or the remote client device) before they can be transmitted to the remote client device (or to the host).

  • Publication number: 20180267496
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for development of a control application for a controller of an automation system. The controller receives sensor signals associated with perception of a first real component during an execution of the control application program. Activity of a virtual component, including interaction with the real first component, is simulated, the virtual component being a digital twin of a second real component designed for the work environment and absent in the work environment. Virtual data is produced in response to the simulated activity of the virtual component. A control application module determines parameters for development of the control application program using the sensor signals for the first real component and the virtual data. An AR display signal for the work environment is rendered and displayed based on a digital representation of the virtual data during an execution of the control application program.

  • Publication number: 20180121461
Abstract: An exemplary method to deduplicate redundant usage data for an application includes receiving, from a first source, a first set of usage data for an application. The method further includes receiving, from a second source, a second set of usage data for the application. The method further includes comparing data of the first set of usage data with data of the second set of usage data. In accordance with a determination that a degree of similarity between the first set of usage data and the second set of usage data satisfies a threshold, the method further includes providing a report regarding the application based on the first set of usage data.

  • Patent number: 9942097
Abstract: A switch can reduce power consumption in a switch network by disabling under-utilized links between switches. The switch can include one or more line cards each operable to transmit and receive packets over a respective link to a remote switch. The switch can also comprise a control mechanism operable to place under-utilized links in standby mode whenever possible to conserve power. During operation, the switch can receive a standby request for placing a first link to a neighboring switch in a standby mode, and determines whether one or more eligible links to the neighboring switch can accommodate traffic from the first link. If the eligible links are able to accommodate traffic from the first link, and if the local switch and the neighboring switch agree to place the first link in standby mode, the local switch proceeds to place the first link in standby mode.

  • Publication number: 20180078177
Abstract: A system for detecting the dimensions and geometry of a native valve annulus for trans-catheter valve implantation includes a compliant balloon and a shaft within the balloon. One or more drive electrodes may be affixed to a surface of the balloon, and one or more sense electrodes may be affixed to the shaft. After insertion of the balloon into the native valve annulus, the drive electrodes may be energized with a predetermined voltage. Using a trained statistical model and the voltages measured at the sense electrodes, initial estimates of the cross-section of the valve annulus may be obtained. The initial estimates may then be provided to an optimization model of the valve annulus to obtain a highly accurate prediction of the cross-section of the valve annulus.

  • Publication number: 20180075259
Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to support a secure machine environment on a HSM adapter, which enables an end user of the HSM adapter to run its own security sensitive applications securely via a secure machine within the HSM adapter and to gain access to its security measures. During operation, the secure machine receives commands from an application running on a host outside of the HSM adapter and executes a security sensitive application within the secure machine environment. The secure machine is configured to process all sensitive information of the security sensitive application via one or more secure machine processes/threads, while the applications running on the host only deal with non-sensitive information. The secure machine then sends a response back to the application running on the host following execution of the security sensitive application within the secure machine environment.

  • Publication number: 20180062854
Abstract: A new approach is proposed to support monitoring Perfect Forward Secrecy (PFS) network traffic by utilizing a hardware security module (HSM) appliance. Here, the HSM appliance is a high-performance, Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-compliant security hardware with embedded firmware, which can be used for management and sharing of ephemeral keys used in a secured PFS communication session between two parties. Specifically, the HSM allows a server to share one or more of its ephemeral keys and/or parameters used in PFS traffic during the session with a third party under specified access rights and/or authorization, wherein the third party can be but is not limited to a traffic monitoring module. The HSM allows the third party to access the ephemeral keys stored on the HSM under the specified access rights and/or authorization so that the third party may decrypt and run analytics on the PFS traffic captured during the session.
