  • Publication number: 20150358313
Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to support security communication between a hardware security module (HSM) and a plurality of network-enabled devices to offload their key storage, management, and crypto operations to the HSM. The HSM includes a plurality of HSM service units, each configured to authenticate one of the network-enabled devices based on its credentials and process the key management and crypto operations offloaded from the network-enabled device once it is authenticated. The HSM service unit also communicates results of the key management and crypto operations back to the network-enabled device via the secured communication channel.

  • Publication number: 20150358311
Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to support security management for a plurality of web services hosted in a cloud at a data center to offload their crypto operations to one or more hardware security modules (HSMs) deployed in the cloud. Each HSM is a high-performance, Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-compliant security solution for crypto acceleration of the web services. Each HSM includes multiple partitions, wherein each HSM partition is dedicated to support one of the web service hosts/servers to offload their key management and crypto operations via one of a plurality of HSM virtual machine (VM) over the network. An HSM managing VM can also be deployed to monitor and manage the operations of the HSM-VMs to support a plurality of web services.

  • Publication number: 20150358161
Abstract: A new approach is proposed to support secured hardware security module (HSM) backup for a plurality of web services hosted in a cloud to offload their key storage, management, and crypto operations to the HSM. Each HSM is a high-performance, FIPS 140-compliant security solution for crypto acceleration of the web services. Each HSM includes multiple partitions isolated from each other, where each HSM partition is dedicated to support one of the web service hosts/servers to offload its crypto operations via a HSM virtual machine (VM) over the network. The HSM-VM is configured to export objects from the key store of a first HSM partition to a key store of a second HSM partition, wherein the second HSM partition is configured to serve the key management and crypto operations offloaded from the web service host once the objects exported from the key store of the first HSM partition are received.

  • Publication number: 20150358312
Abstract: A new approach is proposed to support high availability (HA) of hardware security module (HSM) adapters in an HSM HA domain for web services hosted in a cloud to offload their key storage, management, and crypto operations to the HSM adapters. Each of the HSM adapters is a high-performance, FIPS 140-compliant security solution and includes multiple partitions isolated from each other each dedicated to support one of the web service hosts to offload its key management crypto operations. An HSM managing virtual machine (VM) monitors load information on the operations currently being performed by the HSM partitions in the HSM HA domain and identifies one or more second HSM partitions if a first HSM partition serving the operations is determined to be overloaded. The HSM managing VM then distributes a portion of the offloaded key management and crypto operations from the first HSM partition to the second HSM partitions.

  • Publication number: 20150269586
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed that enables crowd-sourcing of customer care. The disclosed crowd sourcing system may use a diverse workforce, including a business's customer base, an online community, and an employee base. The exemplary crowd-sourcing system may use a service level agreement for the crowd care providers that includes a time constraint period during which the crowd care provider may submit a response to a customer request. Customer requests may be routed to one or more particular crowd care providers or crowd care tiers, whose expertise and/or experience may be taken into account during such routing. In this manner, customer requests may be resolved in a timely fashion without relying solely on an employee base.

  • Publication number: 20150223729
Abstract: A system for detecting the dimensions and geometry of a native valve annulus for trans-catheter valve implantation includes a compliant balloon and a shaft within the balloon. One or more drive electrodes may be affixed to a surface of the balloon, and one or more sense electrodes may be affixed to the shaft. After insertion of the balloon into the native valve annulus, the drive electrodes may be energized with a predetermined voltage. Using a trained statistical model and the voltages measured at the sense electrodes, initial estimates of the cross-section of the valve annulus may be obtained. The initial estimates may then be provided to an optimization model of the valve annulus to obtain a highly accurate prediction of the cross-section of the valve annulus.

  • Publication number: 20120041740
Abstract: The surface of a dental part is scanned by a probe, to obtain a digital model of the surface in a dental CAD computer system. In the digital model, first and second boundary lines are defined, above and below a portion in which the scanned data is missing or unsatisfactory. One of the boundary lines may correspond to a margin line between prepared and unprepared portions of the patient's tooth. A transition surface is generated in the computer system, extending between the first and second boundary lines. This improves the representation of the dental part in the digital model, which may subsequently be used for manufacture of a dental restoration.

  • Patent number: 7581142
Abstract: A method and system usable in sensor networks for handling memory faults is disclosed. In order to protect the operating system of a sensor node, coarse-grained memory protection is provided by creating and enforcing an application fault domain in the data memory address space of the sensor node. The data memory accessed by the application modules is restricted to the region (which defines the application fault domain) within the data memory address space. The application modules are prevented from accessing memory outside the application fault domain through software-based run-time checks. The state belonging to the operations system is maintained outside of the application fault domain, and is thus protected from memory corruption from any application module. In order to ensure that an application module does not operate on a corrupted state, fine-grained error detection and recovery is provided within the application fault domain.
