  • Patent number: 7722918
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the preparation of high temperature superconducting (HTS) bulk current leads capable of supplying a continuous current of more than 200 A at 77 K, at least for 2 to 4 hours without any substantial heat load to cryogen free cryocooler and other superconducting magnet systems. The superconducting bulk current leads with improved properties are prepared from an improved high temperature superconducting (HTS) bismuth based cuperate [(Bi, Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+x] material in tube and rod shape with both end metallic contacts.

  • Patent number: 7724728
Abstract: Disclosed are, inter alia, methods, apparatus, data structures, computer-readable media, and mechanisms, for policy-based processing of packets, including mechanisms for managing the policies. A user is authenticated and its user group identifier is identified. A packet is received and is associated with the user group identifier, and one or more fields (typically other than the source address field) of the packet are used to identify a second group identifier. A lookup operation is then performed on a policy based on the first and second group identifiers to identify a packet processing action to be performed on the packet. These identifiers are typically not network addresses, which disassociates the policy from physical network addresses (which often are dynamically assigned and may also vary based on the access point into the network of a user), and allows a switching device to process packets based on a policy stated using group identifiers.

  • Patent number: 7722485
Abstract: This invention, called Serve Assist, is an electro-mechanical ball machine for practicing the tennis serve. It helps a tennis student to practice serves by consistently dropping the ball in the desired location. It operates in one of two modes, an Auto-feed mode in which it drops the balls in the magazine via an overhead ball release canister at regular intervals or in an Auto-sense mode where the ball is released by the detection of the student's rising tossing arm. The invention also marks the desired height of contact on the dropping ball with a laser and provides visual feedback if the ball is being struck lower than optimum. It aids the student by developing a kinetic and visual memory of the correct ball toss position and point of contact.

  • Patent number: 7724037
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a differential signaling circuit including differential signaling circuitry having at least one output and one input, that can operate in multiple mode of operations while using a single, low voltage supply source. Two or more switches are included and configured to selectively couple a supply voltage to the output dependent on a mode of operation of the differential signaling circuitry. The circuit also includes a switch control biasing circuit operatively coupled to at least one of the switches and to the output of the differential signaling circuitry. The switch control biasing circuit provides a switch control biasing voltage to control a state of the switch based on a voltage level of the output. Further, a bulk biasing circuit is included and operatively coupled to the switch. The bulk biasing circuit selectively provides a bulk biasing voltage to the switch based on the voltage level of the output.

  • Patent number: 7725576
Abstract: A streaming measurement agent designed to experience, measure, and report on a media stream as an actual end user would experience the stream. Preferably, agent resides transparently within a streaming media player itself so that it can monitor stream packet flows within the player as the measured streams are being played. In an illustrative embodiment, the agent comprises a performance monitoring module (PMM), which is software that resides in an interface between an existing core module and a renderer of a media player. The agent PMM intercepts each useful packet as it goes from the core to the renderer and, as a result, it is able to compute quality metrics about the playback. The agent functions “transparently” to the media player by presenting the core with an application programming interface (API) that emulates the API that the renderer normally presents to the core.

  • Publication number: 20100125036
Abstract: A method for preparing a catalyst that involves continuously supplying a first stream containing a solvent, one or more metal precursors, and one or more support materials, and a second stream containing at least one reducing agent and/or precipitating agent. The first and second streams are combined to form a combined stream. In one embodiment, the combined stream may be fed to a mixing vessel. In another embodiment, the streams are combined in a mixing vessel. After the streams are combined, one or more metal precursors is reduced or precipitated within the pores of the one or more support materials. Thereafter, solids are separated from the combined stream and processed to produce the supported metal, mixed-metal, metal oxide, or mixed-metal oxide catalyst. In another embodiment, ceramic or metallic monoliths may be coated with the catalytic material after the stream combination and before or after the solid separation and subsequent processing.

  • Patent number: 7720164
Abstract: Transmission scheme for the uplink of FDMA systems that improves performance in an interference-dominated system by using a pilot scheme that provides enough information so that channel estimates can be obtained for a particular user, but which at the same time makes it possible to use pilot patterns that are different in different cells so that co-channel interference is mitigated. A codeword is used to position a set of pilot symbols within a set of subcarriers wherein each subcarrier has a first pilot time slot and a second pilot time slot associated with one or more data time slots. The set of subcarriers are identified on which to transmit the composite signal and the first pilot time slots and the second pilot time slots are filled with the pilot symbols in accordance with the codeword. The composite signal is then formatted as a combination of modulated data and pilot signals.

  • Publication number: 20100117644
Abstract: A method for acquiring magnetic resonance (MR) data for a three-dimensional (3D) dynamic study includes partitioning a ky-kz plane with a plurality of views into an inner region and a plurality of outer regions. The inner region includes a set of views in a central region of the ky-kz plane and each outer region includes a plurality of views outside of the central region of the ky-kz plane. The method also includes partitioning each outer region into a plurality of radial fan beam segments, defining a first view ordering for the inner region and defining a second view ordering for each outer region. Once the ky-kz plane is partitioned and the view orderings are defined, MR data is acquired for the set of views in the inner region and for all of the views in each of the outer regions in an alternating acquisition order where the set of views in the inner region are acquired more frequently than the views in each of the outer regions. At least one MR image is generated based on the acquired MR data.
