  • Publication number: 20080304522
Abstract: Provided is a laser based on the formation of an inverted population in an atom or ion of an element wherein at least one oxidation state of the element serves as a catalyst with atomic hydrogen to form states that are lower in energy than that of the n=1 state of having a binding energy of 13.6 eV. The catalytic reaction between atomic hydrogen and the catalyst pumps the exited states of catalyst or species caused by the ionization of the catalyst as the reaction releases energy with the formation of atomic-hydrogen states with binding energies lower than those of uncatalyzed atomic hydrogen. In an embodiment, the system comprises a source of catalyst and hydrogen gases and a means to cause a plasma of these gases. The plasma dissociates molecular hydrogen to atomic hydrogen and ionizes the source of catalyst to form the catalyst. The catalyst looses one or more electrons during the catalytic reaction, and the recombination of electrons with the ionized catalyst creates an inverted population.

  • Patent number: 6477398
Abstract: A three-dimensional magnetic susceptibility map of an object including a patient placed in a magnetic field is generated from a three-dimensional map of the resonant radio frequency (RF) magnetic flux external to the patient. The magnetic susceptibility of each voxel is determined from the shift of the Larmor frequency due to the presence of the voxel in the magnetizing field. The intensity variation of the transverse RF field over space is used to determine the coordinate location of each voxel. The RF field is the near field which is a dipole that serves as a basis element to form a unique reconstruction. The geometric system function corresponding to a dipole which determines the spatial intensity variations of the RF field is a band-pass for k&rgr;=kz. In the limit, each volume element is reconstructed independently in parallel with all other volume elements such that the scan time is no greater than the nuclear free induction decay (FID) time.

  • Publication number: 20020079440
Abstract: A method and means to produce an antigravitational force for propulsion and/or levitation comprise a source of fundamental particles including electrons and a means to give the fundamental particles negative curvature; whereas, the gravitating body is comprised of matter of positive curvature where opposite curvatures provide a mutually repulsive antigravitational force. Electrons are given negative curvature by elastically scattering electrons of an electron beam from atoms such that negatively curved electrons (pseudoelectrons) emerge. The emerging beam of negatively curved electrons experience an antigravitational force, and (on the Earth) the beam moves upward (away from the Earth). To use this invention for propulsion or levitation, the antigravitational force of the electron beam is transferred to a negatively charged plate. The Coulombic repulsion between the beam of electrons and the negatively charged plate causes the plate (and anything connected to the plate) to lift.

  • Publication number: 20020051751
Abstract: Pharmaceuticals and Apparatus used in combination for diagnosis and tissue necrosis applicable to provide effective and selective therapy using the Mossbauer absorption phenomenon. Selected pharmaceutical compounds containing a radiation absorber isotope are administered to a tissue and excited by a radiation source which provides energy at the corresponding resonant Mossbauer absorption frequency of isotope containing pharmaceutical, where excitation effects nuclear transitions to cause highly selective energy absorption in the selected target tissue. For diagnostic purposes, de-excitation fluorescence of the isotope is monitored. For therapeutic purposes, the energy is converted to particle radiation by the isotope at the target tissue by internal conversion followed by an Auger electron cascade which results in radiolysis of DNA resulting in lethal double strand breaks in the DNA molecules of the target tissue.

  • Patent number: 6024935
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for releasing energy from hydrogen atoms (molecules) by stimulating their electrons to relax to quantized lower energy levels and smaller radii (smaller semimajor and semiminor axes) than the "ground state" by providing energy sinks or means to remove energy resonant with the hydrogen energy released to stimulate these transitions. An energy sink, energy hole, can be provided by the transfer of at least one electron between participating species including atoms, ions, molecules, and ionic and molecular compounds. In one embodiment, the energy hole comprises the transfer of t electrons from one or more donating species to one or more accepting species whereby the sum of the ionization energies and/or electron affinities of the electron donating species minus the sum of the ionization energies and/or electron affinities of the electron accepting species equals approximately mX27.21 eV (mX48.6 eV) for atomic (molecular) hydrogen below "ground state" transitions where m and t are integers.

  • Patent number: 5221518
Abstract: The DNA sequencing apparatus contains the following components. A first reaction vessel contains a reaction chamber into and out of which can be transferred reagents, reactants and reaction products. A device for separating individual oligonucleotides and polynucleotides on the basis of length, such as an electrophoretic unit, receives reaction products from the first reaction vessel. A second reaction vessel is designed for oxidizing pentose sugars. It comprises a reaction chamber having a device for transferring reactants and reagents into the reaction chamber and gaseous by-products of a reaction out of the reaction chamber. Separated oligonucleotides and polynucleotides can be selectably transferred from the separating device alternatively into the first or the second reaction vessel. The device also includes a second transfer device for transferring the gaseous by-products out of the second reaction vessel and a collection chamber for collecting the gaseous by-products.
