  • Patent number: 7497010
Abstract: A coaxial cable is provided with a specially prepared precoat layer that facilitates removal of the precoat layer when the end of the cable is cored in preparation for receiving a connector. The cable includes an inner conductor; a foam polyolefin dielectric layer surrounding the inner conductor; an outer conductor surrounding said dielectric layer; and a precoat layer disposed between the inner conductor and the dielectric layer. The precoat layer forms a first bond interface with the inner conductor and a second bond interface with the dielectric layer, wherein the ratio of the axial shear adhesion force of the first (“A”) bond to the axial shear adhesive force of the second (“B”) bond is less than 1, and wherein the ratio of the axial shear adhesion force of the “A” bond formed by the precoat layer between the inner conductor to the dielectric layer to the rotational shear adhesion force of the bond is 5 or greater.

  • Patent number: 7408319
Abstract: When multiple motors (40) share a common DC power supply (10) via a bus (20), a system and method is provided for managing the effect of regenerative energy caused by a motor. The regenerative energy may be sensed, e.g., by a power electronics controller (50, 50?). In response, one or more of the other motors currently in operation may be controlled to operate according to a reduced power factor. Thus, the excess energy is consumed without adding any new components or increasing the amount of work performed in the system.

  • Publication number: 20060240901
Abstract: A sports training aid that displays multiple surface-targets so as to aid the practitioner in acquiring accurate alignment, identifying an intermediate surface-target upon which to focus, and building confidence. The training aid utilizes a beginning point (16a), intermediate target (16b), and ultimate target (16c) sources. The surface-target displayed by the ultimate target source (16c) is used to aim at the point where the practitioner ultimately wants his or her ball or object to come to rest. The ball or object is placed upon the surface-target displayed by the beginning point source (16a) and is hit so that it passes over the surface-target displayed by the intermediate target source (16b), and if hit with the correct amount of force, it will come to rest in or upon the ultimate target. The target sources are housed in or upon the target source containment base (14) and the target source containment base is supported by an angled support shaft (12) which is supported by a weighted base (10).

  • Publication number: 20060107447
Abstract: A decorative and/or promotional accessory to be secured to a lace such as a shoe lace includes a molded plastic body having a passage longitudinally extending therethrough from a first opening to a second opening. The passage is sized and shaped to receive the lace therethrough and to frictionally secure the body in a desired position along the lace. The accessory also includes indicia provided on an exterior surface of the accessory which can be in the form of any desired message, name, number, logo, graphic, or the like. An alternative embodiment of the accessory is disclosed which is to be secured to a cap bill. This embodiment includes a slot radially extending to the passage which is sized and shaped to receive the cap brim therein and to resiliently grip the bill and removably secure the accessory in a desired position along the bill.

  • Patent number: 6961556
Abstract: The vertical blanking interval (“VBI”) of a video signal is used in broadband communications including digital data transmission on the VBI or a dual VBI/PCS system capable of enhancing rapid deployment of wireless VBI communications or PCS services to a remote transceiver where no or marginally profitable infrastructure exists. A wireless digital communication system has a broadcast interface for encoding message information on the VBI of a video signal. The message information is encoded to a VBI format to form a pre-formatted signal. A broadcast device transmits an out-going signal having the pre-formatted signal modulated or otherwise embedded in the VBI. The pre-formatted signal is received from the broadcast interface and is transmitted on a carrier of the out-going signal. At least one transceiver receives the out-going signal and transmits a return signal on the carrier of the out-going signal.

  • Patent number: 6487067
Abstract: A flat pack electrolytic capacitor includes an aluminum end cap having an electrolyte fill hole that is sealed with a seal mechanism to preclude electrolyte leakage under normal operating conditions. The end cap is welded to an open-ended aluminum case in which a capacitor is inserted and the hole is sealed with an O ring and closed end pop rivet after the case is filled with electrolyte. The O ring is initially compressed during positioning of the rivet and further compressed when the closed end rivet is installed.

  • Publication number: 20020166656
Abstract: Plate-and-fin core-type heat exchangers are installed within pressure vessels in a manner which eliminates the need for distributors, collectors, headers, nozzles, and manifolds at the feed inlet, the processed gas outlet, or both the feed inlet and the processed gas outlet of each exchanger core. The heat exchangers can be installed in parallel or in series within a single pressure vessel. Alternatively, the heat exchangers can be installed in pressure vessels which are arranged in series such that multiple liquid product streams can be obtained. The heat exchangers preferably are operated in the condensing mode in which feed gas is cooled and partially condensed. The operation of the heat exchangers is characterized by the cocurrent flow of the condensate and uncondensed feed gas, preferably in the vertical or near-vertical direction. In an alternative embodiment, the heat exchangers are operated such that a feed fluid is cooled without phase change.

  • Patent number: 6349566
Abstract: Dephlegmator system without headers, collectors, or distributors at the bottom end of feed circuits in plate and fin exchangers operating in condensing or rectifying service. Each dephlegmator is installed within a pressure vessel, thereby eliminating the need for headers, collectors, or distributors at the bottom end of the feed circuits. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, upper and lower segments of the pressure vessel are isolated by a mid-vessel seal between the vessel and dephlegmator walls, and headers or collectors are not required at the upper and lower ends of the feed circuits.
