  • Patent number: 6219537
Abstract: The present application relates to the use of the vertical blanking interval (“VBI”) to broadband communications including digital data transmission on the VBI or for a dual VBI/PCS System Capable of enhancing rapid deployment of wireless VBI communications or PCS services to a remote transceiver where no or marginally profitable infrastructure exists. Specifically, the present invention provides a wireless digital communication system having a broadcast interface for encoding message information on the vertical blanking interval (VBI) of a video signal, the message information is encoded to a VBI format so as to form a pre-formatted signal. A broadcast device for transmitting an out-going signal having the pre-formatted signal modulated or otherwise embedded in the VBI of the video signal. The pre-formatted signal is received from the broadcast interface and is transmitted on a carrier of the out-going signal.

  • Patent number: 5844130
Abstract: A vehicle including a frame member and a vehicle wheel mounted for rotation relative to the frame member about a rotation axis. The vehicle also includes a transmitting circuit mounted on a one of the frame member and the vehicle wheel. The transmitting circuit includes an antenna coil having a diameter. A ferrite core is mounted adjacent the transmitting circuit on the one of the frame member and the vehicle wheel. A non-planar, curved antenna coil is mounted on the other of the frame member and the vehicle wheel. The non-planar, curved antenna coil has a radius of curvature that is approximately equivalent to the rotational pathway of the transmitting circuit.

  • Patent number: 5685431
Abstract: A packaging system for clutch sets. The system includes a box provided with several packing sheets of compressible foam which can be custom fitted to the clutch set components. The packaging system allows several sizes of clutch sets to be securely packaged in the same size box, and the compressible foam provides a lightweight means for stabilizing the components during shipping or storage. The outside of the box is unmarked except for a label on one side for a bar code or other information. The system includes a sleeve like wrapper with a hole in the side to reveal the label on the side on the box. The outside of the sleeve is imprinted with a brand name and other trade dress. This allows a bearing manufacturer to maintain an inventory of various sizes of pre-packaged clutch sets, along with an inventory of preprinted sleeves. Then, upon receipt of an order from a retail customer, the time necessary to complete the private label packaging of the clutch sets is substantially reduced.
