  • Patent number: 9955438
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to carrier allocation and management in multi-carrier communication systems. In some embodiments, the number of carriers assigned to an access terminal on a forward link may be determined by an access network, and the number of carriers assigned to the access terminal on a reverse link may be based on a cooperative process between the access terminal and the access network. In other embodiments, the number of carriers assigned to the access terminal on the reverse link may also be determined by the access network, e.g., in relation to the scheduling information received from the access terminal.

  • Publication number: 20180070889
Abstract: Aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented in a fall detection device and method. One or more motion sensors can access a user's acceleration data. The acceleration data can be segmented using a segmentation algorithm to identify a potential fall event. The segmentation algorithm can determine a cumulative sum of the acceleration data, where the cumulative sum is based on acceleration values being greater than or less than an acceleration threshold value, and a potential fall event can be identified where the cumulative sum is greater than a cumulative sum threshold value. Statistical features can be extracted from the segmented acceleration data and aggregated, and a determination can be made as to whether the potential fall event is a fall event based at least in part on the statistical features.

  • Publication number: 20180063784
Abstract: Aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented in an efficient wakeup protocol for discovery between two devices. A first device configured to transmit discovery signals can wake up at a predetermined drift time, and a second device configured to receive the discovery signals can wake up at a predetermined wakeup time shortly after the predetermined drift time. The second device can remain awake for a very short duration, where the duration can be based on the packet length of the discovery signal or the interval between each transmitted discovery signal. Upon receiving a discovery signal, the second device can pair with the first device so that further communications can occur between the two devices.

  • Patent number: 9826409
Abstract: Techniques for the reuse of airlink resources in a cellular network are disclosed. A base station controller may gather information about load levels at adjacent sectors of the cellular network. The base station controller may generate and distribute a reuse reference to base stations serving mobile devices in the adjacent sectors. Alternatively, the base station controller may provide the load level information to base stations serving the adjacent sectors and the base stations may determine a sector reuse pattern. The reuse reference or reuse pattern may be adapted to sector load conditions and may designate any combination of carriers, time slots, and power levels for data transmission in a sector. The base stations may schedule data transmission to mobile devices in their respective sectors according to the reuse reference or reuse pattern. The base stations may modify their resource usage in response to changes in sector load.

  • Patent number: 9753874
Abstract: Multi-step programming of heat-sensitive non-volatile memory (NVM) in processor-based systems, and related methods and systems are disclosed. To avoid relying on programmed instructions stored in heat-sensitive NVM during fabrication, wherein the programmed instructions can become corrupted during thermal packaging processes, the NVM is programmed in a multi-step programming process. In a first programming step, a boot loader comprising programming instructions is loaded into the NVM. The boot loader may be loaded into the NVM after the thermal processes during packaging are completed to avoid risking data corruption in the boot loader. Thereafter, the programmed image can be loaded quickly into a NV program memory over the peripheral interface using the boot loader to save programming time and associated costs, as opposed to loading the programmed image using lower transfer rate programming techniques. The processor can execute the program instructions to carry out tasks in the processor-based system.
