  • Patent number: 10694477
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein relating to beam-switching in a wireless system. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a User Equipment device (UE) that transmits and/or receives to and/or from a source Antenna Node (AN) on a source beam comprises performing a Mobility Reference Signal (MRS) search to attempt to detect MRS transmitted by one or more candidate ANs for one or more candidate beam. The method further comprises, if one or more conditions that are indicative of the MRS search being unsuccessful are met, transmitting an indication that the MRS search was unsuccessful. In this manner, one or more network nodes are informed that an action(s) (e.g., assisted beam-formed MRS transmission and/or increasing MRS transmit power at candidate AN(s)) needs to be taken to enable a successful MRS search by the UE.

  • Publication number: 20200178106
Abstract: According to an aspect, one or more network nodes of a wireless communication system sends, to a wireless device operating in the wireless communication system, mobility reference signal (MRS) configuration information, the MRS configuration information specifying one or more parameters for each of a plurality of MRS configurations. The network node subsequently sends, to the wireless device, an activation command indicating that at least a first one of the MRS configurations is to be used by the wireless device, the activation command including an index identifying the first one of the MRS configurations from among the plurality of MRS configurations. The wireless device receives the MRS configuration information and the activation command. • Patent number: 10327276
Abstract: A method for evaluating a connection between a first network node and a User Equipment (UE) via a second cell. The first network node serves a first cell. A sending of a first message is initiated. The first message is sent from the first network node to the UE via the second cell. The first message comprises a trigger for the UE to respond by sending a second message comprising feedback relating to the connection to the second cell. A time value difference between the sending of said first message and receiving of said second message in the first network node is obtained. The second message comprises the feedback relating to the connection sent from the UE in response to the first message. Then it is evaluated how the connection shall be used based on the obtained time value difference and the received feedback.

  • Patent number: 10306530
Abstract: A method performed by a first radio network node for handling mobility of a wireless device in a wireless communication network. The first radio network node provides radio coverage over a first service area using a first reference signal for identifying the first service area in the wireless communication network. A second radio network node provides radio coverage over a second service area using a second reference signal for identifying the second service area in the wireless communication network. The first radio network node receives a measurement report from the second radio network node, which measurement report indicates a second signal strength or quality of a second dedicated beam used for data transmission for wireless devices in the second service area. The first radio network node performs a mobility decision for the wireless device taking the second signal strength or quality, indicated in the received measurement report, into account.
