  • Publication number: 20030098119
Abstract: A production method of multi-layer information record carriers that involves forming a signal duplication layer on a substrate that contains signals, then replacing a metallic stamping plate with the substrate that comprises the signal duplication layer for manufacturing a signal layer of high molecular materials. After the signal layer has been subjected to curing by exposure to ultra violet light, the signal layer is separated from the signal duplication layer because of the difference between the adhesive forces of the different materials. Multi-layer information record carriers can be manufactured by repeating the manufacturing process. Since the manufacturing process of the invention is simple and speedy, it facilitates the creation of automated facilities for mass production.

  • Patent number: 6430138
Abstract: A bifocal optical pickup head is disclosed for use in a optical pickup apparatus having a single objective lens, for generating two different focuses (bifocus) to access a compact disc (CD) and a digital versatile disc (DVD), which the thickness is different. When a beam passes through an optical element disclosed in the present invention, numerical aperture is controlled and spherical aberration is reduced by the optical element due to variations in optical path and radius. Therefore, after beams having different numerical apertures are focused by an objective lens, various focuses can be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20020093883
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a structure of pick-up head and its method for accessing signals, which operates in coordination with a disk made by ferroelectric material. An electric field is generated around the ends of two conductive wires by exerting a voltage on the wires. When the ends of the two wires are being close to the disk, the electric field polarizes the data-storing surface, which is formed by the ferroelectric material, so as to reach the function of writing. And as reading is needed, the two wires are also utilized of being induced by the electric lines of polarized area on the ferroelectric material to solve the data signals stored on the disk. Because the structure of pick-up head is simple and it is able to generate a smaller effective electric field, it is advantaged for the trend of miniaturization of pick-up head and capable of increasing the density of data on the disk.

  • Patent number: 6369377
Abstract: The present invention discloses a multiple-beam holographic optical pick-up head, which has the advantages of the multiple-beam optical pick-up head and the holographic optical pick-up head and can increase the light usage efficiency. This invention uses the property that a polarized diffractive optical element can generate different optical effects for laser beam with different polarizations and places a polarized multiple-beam grating and polarized hologram on the optical path for splitting the incident light toward the disc into multiple reading beams by the multiple-beam grating. The returning laser beams reflected from the disc are diffracted and diverted by the hologram to reach a photodetector. Both the incident and reflective beams are diffracted once only; thus the light usage efficiency can be increased.

  • Patent number: 6320660
Abstract: The invention is directed to a sieving apparatus for a bio-chip, which has a light source, a HOE unit, a splitter, an objective lens, a filter, and an optical signal sensor. The HOE unit is coupled with a light source, so as to diffract the light into a zeroth order beam and a first order beam. The zeroth order beam has no deflection but the first order beam has a deflection from the zeroth order beam. The splitter is coupled to the HOE unit, so as to lead the two beams to the objective lens, which further leads the two beams to the bio-chip, in which the first order beam is incident onto the bio-chip from an incident angle, causing a florescent light from the sample. The bio-chip also reflects the zeroth order beam. Both the reflected zeroth order beam and the fluorescent light travel through the objective lens and the splitter. The filter is coupled to the splitter, so that an undesired portion of the light beams incident on the splitter is filtered.

  • Publication number: 20010038577
Abstract: A polarized-dependent optical diffraction device includes a circular polarization beam generator and a diffraction grating. A diffraction grating is formed by a circular birefractive sheet having a corrugated surface with at least each groove filled with a mass of a material of a refractive index which is substantially equal to one of the circular birefractive indices. A circular polarization beam is supplied to the diffraction grating that the circularly-polarized beams traveling in both directions along a specific optical axis have different diffraction effects so as to enhance the utilization efficiency of the light. In particular, an external magnetic field is used to change the circular birefractive indices in such a manner diffraction efficiency is changed, featuring the merit of adjustability.

  • Patent number: 6278684
Abstract: This invention relates to a rewritable optical information recording medium of the phase-change type, which is made of a Te—Ge—Sb—B quaternary alloy. The optical contrast of the recording medium according to the present invention is enhanced over 35% in the visible wavelength range of 350 nm to 800 nm. Hence, the CNR of an optical disk with the recording medium of the present invention is increased, and the recording medium is suitable for optical information record operated in shorter visible wavelength. In addition, since the crystallization of the recording medium according to the present invention is single-phase, the performance of the repeated recording and erasing is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 6228455
Abstract: A structure of an optical recording medium that mainly includes a first dielectric layer, a dye layer, a second dielectric layer, and a reflective layer formed on a substrate in sequence, and a method for fabricating an optical recording medium of the foregoing structure. The additional dielectric layers of the optical recording medium, instead of a quencher used in a conventional optical recording medium, increase the lifetime of a dye layer and reduce the fabrication cost. Furthermore, the additional dielectric layers are capable of isolating the dye layer from oxygen and moisture to enhance the lightfastness of the dye layer.

  • Patent number: 6204618
Abstract: The present invention is a starting method for brushless DC motor and a device for the same, especially adapted to provide the starting method for a single-phase DC brushless motor in an open circuit and the device for the same. According to the art as disclosed in the present invention, there are two successive steps in starting a motor. An oscillator signal is transmitted to the driver at first, which causes the motor to oscillate in both clockwise and counter-clockwise direction. An operating signal is then sent to cause the motor to rotate normally in one direction once the motor is out of the dead initiating position. By that the rotor can be triggered out of the dead initiating position when the motor is going to start and the motor can be smoothly operated under the low cogging torque.
