  • Patent number: 6067208
Abstract: A disk drive system includes a base, a disk stack rotatably attached to the base, and an actuator assembly movably attached to the base. A ramp assembly includes a set of ramps for loading and unloading the transducing elements to and from the disks in the disk stack. The ramp assembly is attached to the base. The ramp assembly has a series of fixed ramps which are either formed as one integral unit or formed of separate portions. The actuator assembly includes a set of arms. Attached to each arm is a suspension. Attached near the free end of each of the suspensions is a transducer. Also attached to the suspension is a load tang. The load tang rides over the surface of the ramp when the transducers are loaded to or unloaded from a disk surface. The load tang includes a plastically deformable portion which may be irreversibly deformed during assembly of the drive and more particularly, deformed when all of the heads are unloaded from the disk to the ramp assembly for the first time.

Abstract: An electrical terminal 10 includes a female receptacle 20 and a separate reversely bent leaf spring member 40. The separate spring member 40 is formed from a material, such as stainless steel having a lower stress relaxation rate than materials normally used for electrical terminals. The separate spring member 40 has a stationary section 43 that is affixed to one wall of the female receptacle 20 and a leaf spring section 46 that provides a secondary spring backing up a primary spring 26 that is part of the female receptacle 26. The separate spring member 40 is inserted into the female receptacle 20 through a mating face 29 and is snapped to sidewalls 24. The separate spring member 40 deflects the primary spring 26 during insertion and the primary spring 26 does not return to its unstressed condition unless deflected by insertion of a male pin contact when mated.

  • Patent number: 6064186
Abstract: A system and method are provided to manage the excitation of an automobile alternator through the use of its regulator which delivers to the inductor of the alternator a pulse width modulation excitation signal. The regulator receives, from an external management unit, a pulse width modulation excitation control signal with a frequency less than that of the excitation signal. The regulator delivers an excitation signal with a pre-programmed cycle ratio for a sufficient duration to enable the regulator to determine the control information carried by the control signal from the management unit. The regulator continues the excitation signal with the pre-programmed cycle ratio until receipt of instruction from the management unit to regulate the battery voltage.

  • Patent number: 6064706
Abstract: A digital desynchronizer (10) includes an elastic store unit (12) that receives a synchronously mapped asynchronous data signal (14) and outputs asynchronous output data over an asynchronous output data signal (20) in response to an output clock signal (22). The output clock signal (22) is generated by a digitally controlled oscillator (24). The digitally controlled oscillator (24) receives a speed up signal (28) and a slow down signal (30) from a jitter accumulator (26) in order to adjust the clock rate of the output clock signal (22). The jitter accumulator (26) compares retimed read address information (32) to write address information (34) from the elastic store unit (12), subtracts an initial bias, adds the result to any previous sum, and compares this final result to programmable threshold levels in order to determine whether or not to assert the speed up signal (28) or the slow down signal (30).
