  • Patent number: 10642416
Abstract: An example method is performed at a computing system with: a first housing that includes a primary display, and a second housing at least partially containing (i) a physical keyboard and (ii) a touch-sensitive secondary display (TSSD) that is distinct from the primary display. The example method includes: displaying, on the primary display, a user interface. The example method also includes, detecting an input directed to a user interface element in the user interface displayed on the primary display, and the input includes movement. In response to detecting the movement, the method further includes: moving the user interface element towards the TSSD; ceasing to display the respective portion of the user interface on the primary display; and displaying, on the TSSD that is integrated into the second housing that contains the physical keyboard, a representation of the user interface element that was previously displayed on the primary display.

  • Publication number: 20200065470
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to managing access to credentials. In some examples, an electronic device authorizes release of credentials for use in an operation for which authorization is required. In some examples, an electronic device causes display of one or more steps to be taken to enable an input device for user input. In some examples, an electronic device disambiguates between commands to change the account that is actively logged-in on the device and commands to cause credentials to be released from the secure element.

  • Patent number: 10551876
Abstract: A method is performed at a computing system, the computing system including: a first housing that includes a primary display, and a second housing containing (i) a physical keyboard and (ii) a touch-sensitive secondary display (TSSD). The method includes displaying, on the primary display, a first user interface. While the TSSD is operating in an adaptive display mode, the method includes: displaying, on a respective portion of the TSSD, application-specific user interface elements that are selected based on current state of the first user interface for the application. The method further includes, in response to detecting a press of a key via the physical keyboard: displaying, on the primary display, representations of available display modes for the TSSD. The method additionally includes, receiving a selection of a representation of another display mode of the available display modes; and operating the TSSD in the other display mode.

  • Patent number: 10387029
Abstract: An electronic device displays, on a display, a map that is associated with a first orientation. The electronic device receives a touch input on a touch-sensitive surface, and, in response to receiving the touch input on the touch-sensitive surface, rotates the map on the display in accordance with the touch input. While rotating the map on the display in accordance with the touch input, in response to determining that a displayed orientation of the rotated map corresponds to the first orientation of the map, the electronic device generates a first tactile output.

  • Patent number: 10303289
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, devices, and methods for dynamically updating a touch-sensitive secondary display. An example method includes receiving a request to open an application and, in response, (i) displaying, on a primary display, a plurality of user interface (UI) objects associated with the application, the plurality including a first UI object displayed with associated content and other UI objects displayed without associated content; and (ii) displaying, on the touch-sensitive secondary display, a set of affordances representing the plurality of UI objects. The method also includes: detecting, via the touch-sensitive secondary display, a swipe gesture in a direction from a first affordance and towards a second affordance, the first affordance representing the first UI object and the second affordance represents a distinct second UI object. In response to detecting the swipe gesture, the method includes: updating the primary display to display associated content for the second UI object.

  • Publication number: 20180335937
Abstract: A device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface displays a user interface including a user interface object at a first location. While displaying the user interface, the device detects a portion of an input, including a contact at a location on the touch-sensitive surface corresponding to the user interface object. In response to detecting the portion of the input: upon determining that the portion of the input meets menu-display criteria, the device displays a plurality of selectable options that corresponds to the user interface object on the display; and, upon determining that the portion of the input meets object-move criteria, the device moves the user interface object or a representation thereof from the first location to a second location according to the movement of the contact.

  • Patent number: 9990107
Abstract: An electronic device displays a user interface that includes one or more user interface elements; detects a user input on a touch-sensitive surface that includes detecting a contact at a location that corresponds to a respective user interface element; and, in response: if the user input satisfies menu-display criteria, including a criterion that is satisfied when the contact has an intensity above a first intensity threshold, displays a first menu overlaid on the user interface; and, if the user input satisfies action criteria, wherein the action criteria are capable of being satisfied when the intensity of the contact is below the first intensity threshold, initiates performance of an action associated with the respective user interface element without displaying the first menu.

  • Publication number: 20180129364
Abstract: A set of user interfaces for a data processing system that operates with two or more display devices coupled to the system. In one embodiment, in response to moving a first window between two displays, the first window is displayed, as it straddles the two displays, differently on the two displays. For example, while a reference point (e.g. a cursor) on the window remains on a first display, a first portion of the window on the first display is displayed normally while a second portion on the second display is displayed with more translucence (more transparency) than the first portion; when the references point crosses to the second display, the first portion becomes more translucent than the second portion.

  • Patent number: 9645732
Abstract: An electronic device: displays, on a display, a user interface that includes one or more user interface elements; and detects a press input by a contact on a touch-sensitive surface at a location that corresponds to a respective user interface element. In response to detecting the press input, the device: if the respective user interface meets first action criteria including a criterion that the respective user interface element is associated with a single option associated with the press input, initiates performance of an action corresponding to the single option; and, if the respective user interface element meets second action criteria including a criterion that the respective user interface element is associated with a first number of options associated with the press input, where the first number is greater than one, displays a first menu overlaid on the user interface with a first set of selectable options.
