  • Patent number: 11051688
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods that facilitate optical analysis, particularly for the diagnosis and treatment of refractive errors of the eye. An optical diagnostic method for an eye includes obtaining a sequence of aberration measurements of the eye, identifying an outlier aberration measurement of the sequence of aberration measurements, and excluding the outlier aberration measurement from the sequence of aberration measurements to produce a qualified sequence of aberration measurements. The sequence of aberrations measurements can be obtained by using a wavefront sensor. An optical correction for the eye can be formulated in response to the qualified sequence of aberration measurements.

  • Publication number: 20210203162
Abstract: A solar cell management system for increasing the efficiency and power output of a solar cell and methods for making and using the same. The management system provides an electric field across an individual solar cell, an array of solar cells configured as a panel, or a group of solar panels. The imposed electric field exerts a force on both the electrons and holes created by light incident on the solar cell and accelerates the electron-hole pairs towards the electrodes of the solar cell. Compared to conventional solar cells, these accelerated electron-hole pairs travel a shorter distance from creation (by incident optical radiation) and spend less time within the solar cell material, therefore the electron-hole pairs have a lower likelihood of recombining within the cells' semiconductor's material. This reduction in the electron-hole recombination rate results in an overall increase in the solar cells' efficiency and greater power output.

  • Publication number: 20210200862
Abstract: Systems and methods of modifying a program binary by injecting code into a function of a program binary that tokenizes the return address of the function. The tokenization of the return address improves the robustness of the program binary against cyberattacks. For example, an attacker's attempt to hijack program flow before a function return will fail since any return address modified by the adversary will be tokenized (e.g., using a binary operation such as an XOR) resulting in an unusable address that will cause the system to crash. One advantage of the improved CFI consumes less average overhead and does not require all of the complications of the conventional CFI systems. In some embodiments, the tokenization includes applying a binary operation on a randomly-generated token and the return address. The token can be generated at transform time, load time, or run time.

  • Publication number: 20210200446
Abstract: A system that implements a scaleable data storage service may maintain tables in a data store on behalf of storage service clients. The service may maintain data in partitions stored on respective computing nodes in the system. The service may support multiple throughput models, including a committed throughput model and a best effort throughput model. A service request to create a table may specify that requests directed to the table should be serviced under a committed throughput model and may specify the committed throughput level in terms of logical service request units. The service may reserve low-latency storage and other resources sufficient to meet the specified committed throughput level. A client/user may request a modification to the committed throughput level in anticipation of workload changes, such as an increase or decrease in traffic or data volume. In response, the system may increase or decrease the resources reserved for the table.
