  • Patent number: 7920959
Abstract: A method and an apparatus is provided for determining the velocity vector, speed, and direction of moving vehicles traveling on roadways which change elevation and have curves. A camera mounted above a roadway observes at least one vehicles traveling in different directions on different roads. Each pixel in the two-dimensional optical image is mapped into a three-dimensional real world location to enable the moving vehicles to be analyzed in the three-dimensional real world as they travel on roads, which may change elevation and may have curves. The estimated vehicle velocities may be displayed on an image near the moving vehicle. Individual images with vehicle velocities may be posted on an Internet site. The sequence of optical images, or streaming video, with the displayed vehicle velocities may also be used for television news programs that show traffic moving on the roadways.

  • Publication number: 20080103790
Abstract: A duplicate detection system is provided for analyzing and processing documents received at one or more capture sites. A physical document may be electronically captured at a capture site and subsequently transmitted to a regional or central processing system. The regional or central processing system may receive capture documents from multiple capture sites. The processing system may analyze the captured documents to identify and flag false-positives prior to performing duplicate detection. Duplicate detection may be performed in accordance with predefined rules associated with false-positive flags. Once duplicate detection is complete, suspected duplicates may undergo manual review while non-duplicates are released for posting or dispatching.

  • Patent number: 7096047
Abstract: This invention offers an improved hands-free device for coupling to radio devices having mute and audio inputs. The invention couples serially between the radio and a portable electronic device such as a mobile telephone. The invention facilitates the delivery of appropriate audio signals to the radio. The invention also senses the activity of the portable electronic device and actuates a mute signal upon sensing such activity. The mute signal causes the radio to switch the input to its loudspeakers from a received signal to the audio being delivered by the invention from the portable electronic device. In so doing the invention offers an easy to install, inexpensive hands-free unit that takes advantage of the high fidelity loudspeakers in the automotive stereo system.

  • Patent number: 6549394
Abstract: A capacitor having a bottom plate, a top plate and a support connected to the center portion of the top plate for positioning the top plate over the bottom plate and separated therefrom by a gap. The outer portion of the top plate moves relative to the bottom plate when a potential is applied between the plates. The outer portion may be connected to the center portion of the top plate by springs such that the movement of the top plate relative to the bottom plate is accommodated by bending at least one of the springs. The capacitor may also include an insulating layer between the top and bottom plates disposed so as to prevent the top plate from shorting to the bottom plate. A spacer for setting the minimum distance between the outer portion of the top plate and the bottom plate may also be included.
