  • Patent number: 5471818
Abstract: An apparatus for shrinking a heat-shrinkable hood over a stack of goods has an upright guide adjacent the hooded stack of goods, an upper frame vertically displaceable on the guide and provided with a heater capable of shrinking the hood and a lower frame below the upper frame, vertically displaceable on the guide below the upper frame, and provided with a heater capable of shrinking the hood. Respective upper and lower drives connected to the frames vertically displace same on the guide independently of each other. First the stack of goods is positioned in a treatment station with the hood pulled down over the goods, a lower end edge of the hood hanging down below a lower end of the stack of goods, and an upper closed end of the hood on an upper surface of the stack of goods. Then to secure the hood in place the hanging-down lower end edge of the hood is heated to shrink it in under the lower end of the stack of goods.

  • Patent number: 5163264
Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping a stack of articles with a stretch foil in which the satellite has a deflecting roller over which the foil passes and which is braked by a hydraulic motor in proportion to the speed of the deflecting roller. An arm can swing out and carries a mirror to monitor breakage of the foil, the mirror intercepting a light beam from a stationary force on the machine frame. For both the brake and the foil-break monitor, no slip rings are required.

  • Patent number: 5156542
Abstract: A gas-fired heat gun has a housing, a nozzle in the housing for directing a stream of a combustible gas in a predetermined direction along an axis in the housing, and at least two mixing tubes including an upstream tube and a downstream tube in the housing coaxial with the nozzle and downstream therefrom. Each tube has a large-diameter upstream end and a small-diameter downstream end with the downstream end of the upstream tube spacedly received within the upstream end of the downstream tube so that air is entrained axially into both upstream ends by the combustible-gas stream. A combustion chamber is provided in the housing coaxial with and immediately downstream of the downstream end of the downstream tube.

  • Patent number: 4877012
Abstract: A rectangular cross-section housing is provided for an apparatus generating hot gas to shrink a plastic film. A burner is located close to the upper small end of this housing while an outlet nozzle is provided at the lower small end and the gas flows at an obtuse angle from the burner to the outlet. The burner is flanked by lamellae and a venturi action draws cool air between the lamellae and the burner, additional cool air passing between the lamellae and the vertical housing walls. Cold-air nozzles are provided within the housing as well.

  • Patent number: 4866916
Abstract: The apparatus for shrinking a shrinkable cover to enclose a palletted stack of goods comprises a shrinking device, a conveying system for the palletted stack of goods transported past the shrinking device, a lifting device positioned under the shrinking device for raising the palletted stack of goods and a suction device positioned in the vicinity of the lifting device. The lifting device is located astride the path of the conveyor system thereby eliminating below ground conveyors in favor of driverless automatically controlled floor conveying devices. Part of the lifting device is at least one raisable and lowerable support movable under a palletted stack of goods being guided on the conveyor system. The support has seat members projecting from it for the palletted stack of goods and the seat members are movable from a horizontal into a vertical orientation, especially by rotation of the support about its longitudinal axis.
