  • Patent number: 7210729
Abstract: A windshield molding for insertion in the space between a windshield glass panel and a window opening of a vehicle body panel. The windshield molding structure includes a clasp portion, a bendable portion, and a channel lip portion. The clasp portion conformingly adheres to the edge of the windshield glass and the bendable portion engages the periphery of the window opening wherein the bendable portion bends and folds under the channel lip portion to provide an air-tight compression seal between the window glass and vehicle body panel, thereby minimizing undesirable air flow whistling and collection of dirt or other debris within the windshield molding structure. A windshield molding is also provided with a water drain channel which guides rainwater along the edge of the molding structure to prevent the water fluid from being sprayed onto the side windows.

  • Publication number: 20060230586
Abstract: A clip with dual attachment flanges that is easily attachable, removable and re-attachable to and from a vehicle, such as an automobile, boat, snowmobile, or other similar structure. The clip comprises a base, whereby a male member projects perpendicularly from the base on one side of the base substantially from a leg member of the base, first and second legs project from a cross-member substantially in the same plane as the base, the first and second legs projecting from the cross-member on opposite ends of the cross-member, and attachment flanges at the outermost ends of each of the first and second legs. A corresponding clip housing attached to a trim part is provided with flange receipt channels that receive the flanges of the first and second legs to secure the trim part to the clip. The first and second legs of the clip are thus slid over portions of the clip housing to seat the flanges of the first and second legs in their respective flange receipt channels.

  • Patent number: 5660897
Abstract: An automotive moulding has a gas channel extending longitudinally in the widthwise central part on the back side and is manufactured by a gas injection moulding. The gas channel is formed with a hollow portion. The gas injection aperture is situated at one end of the hollow portion. The shape of the gas channel changes gradually toward the one end. The gas injection aperture is deviated in the direction of width off the extreme side edge of the hollow portion. A gas escape port is formed at the other end of the hollow portion. The gas escape port is deviated in the direction of width from the hollow portion. The direction of deviation is the same as that of the gas injection aperture. The opening of the gas escape port is directed sidewardly with respect to the automotive moulding. The opening is closed by the automotive body when the automotive moulding is attached to an automobile.

  • Patent number: 5639522
Abstract: Disclosed is a side protective moulding having a decorative section and a rib section. The decorative section has a protruding section protruding most with respect to a door, and a curved section extending aslant from the protruding section toward the door. The rib section has a hollow section formed on the back side of the protruding section and a reinforcing leg section extending from the hollow section toward the door. The side moulding is moulded by a hollow injection moulding process. Adopting this moulding process can improve the outside appearance of the side moulding by eliminating sink marks and wrinkles from the surface of the decorative section if a thick wall section for increasing side moulding rigidity and impact strength is formed on the back side of the decorative section.

  • Patent number: 5288530
Abstract: This invention employs a structure wherein the coupling section 23b of the clip 23 is engaged to the coupling section 25b of the holder 25 by sliding the clip 23 at an angle to the widthwise direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the trim 24, wherein the position of the coupling section 25b of the holder 25 is set closer toward the back surface of the trim 24, and wherein the recessed groove in the automobile body panel 21 for installation of said trim may be formed by shallower drawing, thus enabling satisfactory molding of trim 24 to be realized without affecting the standard press working processes of the automobile body panel 21.
