  • Publication number: 20130159715
Abstract: First and second communication devices respectively have first and second personal identification numbers (PINs). The first communication device transmits to the second communication device a first encryption key, and receives from the second communication device the second PIN that has been encrypted by the second communication device using the first encryption key. The first communication device receives from the second communication device a second encryption key, decrypts the encrypted second PIN, and encrypts the first PIN using the second encryption key, and transmits the encrypted first PIN to the second communication device. The first communication device conducts, with the second communication, device a peer-to-peer messaging session by transmitting to the second communication device peer-to-peer messages that contain the second PIN and receiving from the second communication device peer-to-peer messages that contain the first PIN.

  • Publication number: 20130160091
Abstract: A system and method for associating message addresses with certificates, in which one or more message addresses are identified and associated with a user-selected certificate that does not contain any e-mail addresses. In certain situations, a message may be encrypted using a certificate that does not contain an e-mail address that matches the e-mail address of the individual to which the message is to be sent, so long as the address to which the message is to be sent matches any of the message addresses associated with the certificate. The message addresses are saved in a data structure that resides in a secure data store on a computing device, such as a mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20130156413
Abstract: A mobile device comprising a processor, a camera module, and a flash configured to generate at least one of a reduced pre-flash, a standard pre-flash and a flash. The processor, in response to receiving an image capture request, is configured to receive a brightness value and determine a flash status based on a flash setting with the flash status being one of an off mode, on mode, and auto mode. In the event the flash status is one of the on mode and auto mode, determine whether there is sufficient light to capture an image based at least in part on a comparison of the brightness value and a flash threshold. In the event the brightness value is greater than the flash threshold, cause the flash to generate a shortened pre-flash and obtain only a white balance measurement and an auto-exposure measurement during the shortened pre-flash.

  • Publication number: 20130154944
Abstract: A handheld device includes a plurality of input members, a first set of which each have a Roman character assigned thereto, a least some of which have a first non-Roman and a second non-Roman character assigned thereto. In response to an actuation of a first one of the input members, a first one of the non-Roman characters that is assigned to the first one of the input members is displayed. Based on one or more rules which govern permissible character sequences in the subject language, the display of a second one of the non-Roman characters in response to an actuation of a second one of the input members having the second one of the non-Roman characters assigned thereto immediately following the actuation of said first one of the input members is prevented.

  • Publication number: 20130157701
Abstract: A system and method are provided for managing messages in conversational-type messaging applications. To provide continuity across all conversations with a particular recipient, an existing or not-yet-created 1:1 conversation can be populated with 1:Many messages that include the same recipient in the list of addressees. In this way, any 1:1 chat or conversation with a particular recipient will contain all correspondences with that recipient, regardless of whether the message was sent or received in a 1:1 or 1:Many context. As such, the user has access to all information that has been exchanged with that recipient in one messaging screen to avoid the need to traverse multiple messaging screens to obtain the context or information related to the recipient that the user requires.

  • Publication number: 20130148764
Abstract: An OFDM system and method using amplitude shift keying (ASK) for subcarrier modulation is provided. Because ASK is used, the signal of each symbol in time domain is conjugate-symmetric. In addition, among the discrete numbers of each symbol, two of them are always real. These properties are utilized such that only half of the numbers of each symbol sequence are transmitted. The generated baseband signal can be a complex or a real signal. As a result, the bandwidth efficiency of the derived ASK-OFDM is the same as that of QAM-OFDM.

  • Publication number: 20130150020
Abstract: A system and method of locating a lost wireless communication device is provided. A remote server is contacted to indicate that the wireless communication device is lost. A lost device policy setting is then activated in a database coupled to the remote server, the lost device policy setting indicating that the wireless communication device is lost. In response to activation of the lost device policy setting, a remote location command is then transmitted from the remote server to the wireless communication device via a wireless network. The remote location command is subsequently received at the lost wireless communication device, which processes the remote location command such that a user of the wireless communication device can locate the device.
