  • Publication number: 20190274145
Abstract: The various embodiments provide methods implemented in a multi-RF communication device for managing a victim subscription's de-sense by proactively implementing an RF coexistence management strategy on the victim subscription when an RF coexistence event starts. In various embodiments, a multi-RF communication device may implement an RF coexistence management strategy by determining when an aggressor subscription will de-sense a victim subscription and configuring the victim to anticipate and mitigate de-sense during the aggressor's transmissions. Thus, the various embodiments may provide dramatic improvements to the victim's overall reception performance and overall user experience.

  • Publication number: 20190253925
Abstract: A UE apparatus determines UE capability and signals UE capability information to a base station. The UE may signal RF capability information to the base station with reference to at least one band combination and signal other baseband parameter(s) (obp(s)) to the base station. The RF capability information indicate RF capability with reference to at least one other band combination parameter. The obp may be indicated on a per UE basis, a per band basis, a per band combination basis, a per band, per band combination basis; and/or a per CC, per band, per band combination basis. Each band combination may indicate a combination of a numerology, a layer and a bandwidth. In another example, a plurality of basebands may be defined, each baseband indicating a combination of a numerology, a layer and a bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 10334558
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device may detect a collision of paging messages for a first subscription and a second subscription of the wireless device during a paging processing duration, the first receive chain including at least one antenna path. The wireless device may determine that, in a connected mode, it is configured to operate a second receive chain with one or more additional antenna paths, and may allocate, for a subsequent instance of the paging processing duration, the first subscription to one of the first receive chain or the second receive chain, and the second subscription to the other of the first receive chain or the second receive chain. • Patent number: 10320549
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for quick recovery of missed packets after a user equipment (UE) tunes back to a first network after tuning away from the first network. The UE may determine that a trigger event has occurred, and in response to the determination, modify a negative acknowledgement (NACK) timing configuration from a default configuration. Modifying the NACK timing configuration may include using an aggressive NACK timing configuration for a configurable period of time, in response to detecting a trigger event. The trigger event may include detecting missed packets after a tune back, unavailability of sufficient memory to hold packets until a gap created by missed packets may be filled, or tuning back to a network.

  • Patent number: 10291310
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for gap-based antenna measurement for antenna switch diversity, where there are fewer number of receivers or transmitters than the number of available antennas. The receivers may switch to additional antennas during a gap and switch back to the previous antennas. • Publication number: 20190098489
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to dual connectivity reporting. In one example, a dual connectivity communication is established, which includes a communication with a master node according to a first radio access technology (RAT), and a communication with a secondary node according to a second RAT. A change in measurement capability is then detected, and subsequently reported to the master node and/or secondary node. In another example, a scheduling entity establishes a first or second communication of a dual connectivity communication with a scheduled entity. The first communication is established according to a first RAT when operating as a master node, and the second communication is established according to a second RAT when operating as a secondary node. An indication is then received from the scheduled entity of a change in measurement capability, and the first and/or second communications are reconfigured in response to the change in measurement capability.

  • Patent number: 10244457
Abstract: The present aspects relate to out-of-service searches in a wireless communication system. Specifically, the present aspects provide that while in an out-of-service state corresponding to a radio resource disconnection, a user equipment (UE) may determine that a first time duration following entry into the out-of-service state has elapsed. The UE may further obtain a geofence identifier representing a shape forming a geographic region including one or more boundaries based on determining that the first time duration has elapsed. The UE may further identify at least one location identifier based at least on the geofence identifier and determine at least one radio access technology (RAT) and one or more associated frequency bands based on the at least one location identifier. The UE may further search on the at least one RAT and one or more associated frequency bands for at least one network entity within the geographic region.

  • Patent number: 10231239
Abstract: Device-to-device operations are scheduled based on receive and transmit pools that may have a conflict in time domain. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus for resolving time domain conflict in device-to-device communication are provided. The apparatus may compute a first block rate metric for a first device-to-device communication on a first frequency and a second block rate metric for a second device-to-device communication on a second frequency. The apparatus may detect a time-domain conflict between the first device-to-device communication on the first frequency and the second device-to-device communication on the second frequency. The apparatus may prioritize the first device-to-device communication on the first frequency and the second device-to-device communication on the second frequency based on the first block rate metric and the second block rate metric.

  • Patent number: 10178561
Abstract: Examples described herein relate to enhancing data communication performance in a wireless communication network including a first subscription associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second subscription associated with a second RAT, where the wireless communication device uses a same radio frequency (RF) resource to communicate over both the first RAT and the second RAT. The first RAT is used, in part, for data operations while the second RAT is used, in part, for voice operations. During idle state voice operations, the RF resource is reallocated from performing data operations to performing idle state voice operations, causing interruptions in the data operations. The wireless communication device adjusts at least one or a duration and an occurrence of the idle state voice operations to reduce the impact on the data operations.

  • Publication number: 20180368099
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some wireless devices (e.g., dual subscriber identity modules (SIM) devices) may support two subscriptions such that while one subscription is actively transmitting or receiving, the other subscription is put on standby. The wireless device may identify collisions in time between monitored paging messages associated with the first and second subscriptions. Accordingly, the wireless device may modify a radio access technology (RAT) priority setting for one of the subscriptions, such that paging messages may be received via a RAT different that the RAT used for the other subscription (e.g., following a cell reselection procedure performed according to the modified RAT priority). Operation using a modified RAT priority setting may be referred to as a fallback mode, which may be exited upon expiration of a timer. Additionally, discontinuous reception (DRX) durations associated with the RATs used for subscription paging may be reduced.
