  • Patent number: 10592425
Abstract: Techniques for virtualizing NVDIMM WPQ flushing with minimal overhead are provided. In one set of embodiments, a hypervisor of a computer system can allocate a virtual flush hint address (FHA) for a virtual machine (VM), where the virtual flush hint address is associated with one or more physical FHAs corresponding to one or more physical memory controllers of the computer system. The hypervisor can further determine whether one or more physical NVDIMMs of the computer system support WPQ flushing. If so, the hypervisor can write protect a guest physical address (GPA) to host physical address (HPA) mapping for the virtual FHA in the page tables of the computer system, thereby enabling the hypervisor to trap VM writes to the virtual FHA and propagate those write to the physical FHAs of the system.

  • Patent number: 8555915
Abstract: A Dual Action, Low Head Isolation Valve is a plumbing fitting that will isolate the interior pipes of a house from the exterior temperatures of summer and winter while allowing the passage of gasses through the system for venting. This valve would be installed at the top of the household plumbing drainage system, or the top vent, in the attic or above the roof. This valve will allow for the system to draw in air and exhaust the septic gasses, or respirate in both directions with very low head or resistance.

  • Patent number: 8348726
Abstract: A dust reducing sanding system for collecting dust created during the sanding of gypsum board includes a shroud including a top wall and a peripheral wall coupled to the top wall to define an interior space. A distal edge of the peripheral wall opposite the top wall defines an open end to allow the dust to enter the interior space. A handle is mounted to the shroud and is graspable to facilitate manipulation of the shroud. A collection pipe is coupled to the peripheral wall of the shroud and is in fluid communication with the interior space. The collection pipe is engaged by a vacuum to allow the dust to be vacuumed out of the shroud. A base plate having a plurality of apertures extending therethrough is positioned over the open end of the shroud. An exterior surface of the base plate is abrasive.

  • Patent number: 7213349
Abstract: While venting clothes dryer heat outside may be acceptable during the summer months, it is desirable to reuse such heat once the outside temperature starts to fall. The disclosed heat recovery unit for a clothes dryer works towards meeting this need. The heat recovery unit may include a housing having a support box and a cover attached to the support box by a hinge. The cover may include an exhaust register and an indicator light cover through which a ‘clean filter now’ light, a ‘low flow’ light, and a ‘high temperature warning’ light may be viewed when lit. The heat recovery unit also may include a controls box positioned in the support box, where the controls box maintains electronic intelligence of the recovery unit. A recovery unit fan may be positioned in the support box to blow room temperature air up through a heat exchanger in the support box. An internal bypass channel may channel clothes dryer air around and outside of the heat exchanger during hot days.

  • Patent number: 7009618
Abstract: In a computer system, an address range is defined within the memory map. Addresses within the address range are mapped to other addresses within the memory map using an address relocation mechanism (e.g. the GART mechanism). The address range is divided into two portions. A graphics device may use the first portion to address a contiguous address space, and the addresses are remapped to other address using the address relocation mechanism. Particularly, the contiguous address space used by the graphics device may be remapped to non-contiguous pages elsewhere in the memory map. Other peripheral devices may use the second portion when performing data transfers to portions of the memory map above a predefined limit. The predefined limit may be the highest memory location in the memory map for which the peripheral device is capable of directly generating the address (e.g. 4 GB for a 32 bit address).

  • Patent number: 6925591
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing full accessibility to on-chip instruction cache and microcode ROM are described. A dummy tag and a dummy instruction are written into a cache tag array and an instruction array, respectively, during a test mode. The dummy tag is concatenated with a predetermined set number and a predetermined word address to form a dummy address having a dummy tag field, a set field and a word address field. An instruction fetch is invoked using the dummy address. The instruction cache is accessed with the dummy address, and a cache miss is forced to occur. The dummy tag field of the dummy address is written into the tag array at a row specified by the predetermined set number, and the dummy instruction is written into the instruction array at the same row. Execution of the dummy instruction is suppressed. A read operation is performed in a similar manner, except in that case an instruction cache hit is forced to occur to cause data to be read from the instruction cache.
