  • Publication number: 20240082653
Abstract: A golf club head having a slot in the sole filled with an insert in which the slot is positioned close to the striking face. The slot can be a uniform distance from the striking face or the slot can curve away from the striking face in the toe region. The insert can have a uniform height or a non-uniform height. Inserts with uniform heights can have a low height profile. Inserts with non-uniform heights can have a lower height in a central portion of the insert compared to an edge portion or a perimeter portion of the insert. The insert can also have flanges or protrusions for installation into the slot. The resulting golf club head improves performance, as the sole slot with insert allows the striking face to have a profile that meets the needs at that location.

  • Publication number: 20050210996
Abstract: A microfluidic analysis system with a flow channel block, possessing at least one recessed channel, clamped to a sensor surface, such as a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor. Flatness and hardness lead to a liquid leak-proof seal. Surface tension forces prevent liquid from leaking between the flow cell block and sensor surfaces. The fluid channels formed are reversible upon removal of the clamping pressure.

  • Patent number: 6943887
Abstract: A disposable, portable, miniature surface plasmon resonance sensor (30) having real-time referencing capability in the presence of any interaction, without changing the sensing surface condition is disclosed herein. The sensor (30) includes an electromagnetic radiation source (32) which generates a beam of electromagnetic radiation (52) that passes through a liquid crystal switch that includes a polarizer, plates and liquid crystal material sandwiched between the plates. The liquid crystal switch is disposed between the source (32) and an array of detectors (48). The liquid crystal switch has the ability to switch between a first and a second state of polarized radiation such that it provides the transverse magnetic component of the electromagnetic radiation for detection of SPR on a target element and, in the alternative, provides the transverse electric component of the electromagnetic radiation to determine a reference signal for the sensor (30).

  • Patent number: 6752962
Abstract: A miniaturized integrated sensor (50) useful for indicating the presence of a sample analyte is disclosed. The sensor (50) has a platform (52) with an upper surface (53) and a detector (62), light source (60), waveguide (58), and reflective fixtures (60, 62) embedded in the platform (52). The light source (60) is preferably a light emitting diode and sits in a cup-shaped dimple (68) that directs light from the light source (60) toward one of the reflective fixtures (64) to uniformly distribute light across the waveguide (58). The waveguide (58) is coupled to an upper surface (53) of the sensor platform (52) and is coated with a thin film of indicator chemistry (70) which interacts with the sample analyte to produce optic signal changes that are measurable by the detector (62). A lead frame (51) in the platform (52) has pins (54, 55, 56) which provide the interface to the outside world.
