  • Publication number: 20040258594
Abstract: A system for NOx reduction in combustion gases, especially from diesel engines, incorporates an oxidation catalyst to convert at least a portion of NO to NO2, a particulate filter, a source of reductant such as NH3 and an SCR catalyst. Considerable improvements in NOx conversion are observed.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 8, 2004
    Publication date: December 23, 2004
Inventors: Anders Andreasson, Guy Richard Chandler, Claus Friedrich Goersmann, James Patrick Warren
  • Patent number: 6805849
Abstract: Selective catalytic reduction of NOx in combustion gases, especially from diesel engines, utilizes a system incorporating an oxidation catalyst to convert at least a portion of NO to NO2, a particulate filter downstream of the oxidation catalyst, a source of reductant such as NH3 or urea for injection downstream of the particulate filter, and an SCR catalyst located downstream of the point of injection of the reductant. Considerable improvements in NOx conversion are observed.

  • Patent number: 6713030
Abstract: In the reduction of quantities of Nox in the exhaust gases of lean bum engines such as diesel engines, using a selective reduction catalyst and a source of ammonia, the present invention improves overall conversion by supplying ammonia or a precursor intermittently so that it is adsorbed and desorbed during the engine operating cycle.

  • Patent number: 6680037
Abstract: A canister (1) contains a catalyst for generating NO2 and a filter (8) for trapping PM, e.g. from diesel engines. The filter is thermally isolated from the canister, and preferably is surrounded by an annular monolith comprising the NO oxidation catalyst or a SCR catalyst. The invention facilitates the combustion of PM even at low exhaust gas temperatures, in a compact device.

  • Publication number: 20030226352
Abstract: In the control of pollutants such as NOx in the exhaust gases from internal combustion engines, ozone is reacted with NO to form NO2, which is then reduced catalytically to N2, by reacting NO2 with ammonia. The NO2 produced can react with the particulates of Diesel engine to exhaust gas to regenerate a particulate filter.

  • Patent number: 5479479
Abstract: A cellular telephone is interconnected to a control unit via a cable. The cable contains both appropriate interdisciplinary connections for attachment to the telephone at one end and to the control unit at the other end via a universal connector. At least one contact of the universal connector is capable of producing a signal coded to identify the type of cellular telephone attached to the connector at the other end. A decoder at the control unit identifies the type of phone as by table look-up and establishes appropriate interfacing operational functions at its universal connector to properly operate with the telephone. Accordingly, the control unit can function with any of a wide variety of cellular telephones having differently configured cable connections and cable connector disciplines of contact assignments.
