  • Patent number: 8273414
Abstract: A method of improving the wet tensile strength of a cellulose-containing web includes applying to the web an aqueous binder emulsion and subsequently drying and curing the binder emulsion. The aqueous binder emulsion is prepared by emulsion-polymerizing a monomer mixture comprising vinyl acetate, ethylene, and an olefinically unsaturated crosslinking monomer in the presence of a phosphate ester surfactant wherein the at least one crosslinking monomer comprises a (meth)acrylamide moiety and a cellulose-reactive moiety. The binder emulsion may be applied to a cellulose-containing web to increase wet strength, aid in creping, or both.

  • Patent number: 8045701
Abstract: In a speakerphone device identification of signals (i.e., voice input or speaker output) in a process for reducing acoustic feedback, in a communication device, is accomplished by adding a signature noise (i.e., an identification mark) to output signals radiated by the speaker to enable these signals to be separated from speech input to the microphone. Having identified the signal (i.e., speech output) likely to cause a “singing” phenomenon, appropriate insertion loss to reduce the feedback may be added to the appropriate speech path within the communication device, to reduce a probability of singing.

  • Publication number: 20110202976
Abstract: A secondary Ethernet-like wireless communication system overlapped by a dominant Ethernet-like wireless communication system, and including radio access and communication for activation, association, and authentication of a wireless device in the secondary Ethernet-like wireless communication system. An automated private service activation (APSA) port is used for accepting access and communication requests of a wireless device seeking activation, association and authentication in the secondary Ethernet-like wireless communication system. The APSA port provides an access and communication channel for radiating signals at a level exceeding a signal level of the access and communication channel only within limited spatial constraints. In addition the APSA port provides space for receiving the wireless device for activation and communication in the secondary Ethernet-like wireless communication system.
