  • Publication number: 20120165091
Abstract: Apparatus and methods related to multi-player casino games are described. An electronic gaming device is provided that allows a live player to compete against a virtual player in a multi-player wager-based game. The electronic gaming device can comprise a multi-player game engine that does not distinguish between virtual players and live players. The electronic gaming device can be configured to simulate the decision making of a virtual player and associated behaviors of the virtual player during game play. In some instances, the simulated behaviors of the virtual player output at the electronic gaming device can be learned by a live player so that the live player can make better or more advantageous game play decisions. The simulated behaviors of the virtual player can be conveyed to the live player via visual images, such as simulated facial expressions of the virtual player.

  • Patent number: 7454363
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sorting and reconciling vouchers accepted by a gaming machine or other device is disclosed. The gaming machine is configured to generate information relating to each accepted voucher, or provide such information to a remote location. At least one apparatus is adapted to sort bill monies from vouchers retrieved from the cash box of a gaming machine. The same or another apparatus is adapted to read each voucher to determine its identity and value. At least one device, such as a computer including appropriate hardware and software, is configured to determine if the value and identity of the processed vouchers reconcile with the value and identity of the vouchers having been identified as paid by the gaming machine. In this manner, a “soft count” process is performed on a group of intermingled bill monies and vouchers retrieved from a gaming machine.

  • Publication number: 20080102919
Abstract: Frameworks for providing modular computer program code and automated configuration of server-based gaming environments are disclosed. One or more “pluggable” modular gaming modifier can be provided for the modular computer program code without requiring the replacement of the entire computer program code for the game. Typically, the pluggable” modular gaming modifier can be added to or can replace one or more gaming modules or sub-modules, thereby requiring less time and effort for effectively modifying game presentation. In addition, configuration data can be generated and stored as configurations templates which can be used to configure one or more gaming machines in an automated manner. The configuration templates can be generated based on gaming modules and/or sub-modules provided for modular computer program code.

  • Publication number: 20080043102
Abstract: A surveillance system can include a first sensor apparatus configured to interrogate a subject, including a person and objects carried by the person, with millimeter-wave electromagnetic radiation for imaging the subject. A supplemental source provides additional information about the subject that is relatable to objects potentially carried by the person. Relational information relates the produced image signal and the subject information. The supplemental source may be a second sensor apparatus adapted to detect a given characteristic of an object potentially carried by a person in the subject position. Relational information about whether the person is carrying an object having the given characteristic may then be produced.

  • Publication number: 20080045346
Abstract: A gaming terminal data repository (GTDR) for storing game software components and transaction information for gaming machine and gaming terminals is disclosed. A system database is partitioned according to different gaming entities allowing game software component configurations of particular gaming terminals to be easily analyzed and modified. Game software components for gaming terminals connected to the GTDR may be automatically updated using various triggers. System gaming machines may utilize a combination of game software components residing on the gaming machine and those received from the GTDR. A library of preset gaming terminal configurations can be stored at the system database, where each such preset configuration includes specific settings for each of a plurality of gaming terminal setting categories. Gaming terminals can be configured remotely using the GTDR, and possibly one or more of the stored preset gaming terminal configurations.

  • Publication number: 20080031452
Abstract: Various techniques are disclosed for authenticating a first gaming application adapted for deployment at a first gaming machine that is operable to receive a wager on a game of chance. A first gaming application signature is accessed. In at least one embodiment, the first gaming application signature is associated with a first portion of a first plurality of gaming objects that are associated with the first gaming application. A first certified gaming signature associated with the first gaming application may also be accessed. Authentication of the first gaming application may be performed. In at least one embodiment, the first gaming application may be authenticated, for example, by comparing at least one gaming application signature with at least one certified gaming signature. If it is determined that the first gaming application is not authentic, the first gaming application signature may be analyzed to identify at least one invalid gaming object.

  • Publication number: 20070270212
Abstract: Techniques for execution of multiple application programs and their variations are disclosed. One or more individual application program components that are determined to be already stored and/or loaded into memory are not loaded into memory again, thereby allowing the associated application program to be executed without unnecessarily reloading the one or more individual application program components into memory. Generally, by keeping track and/or predicting of the application components loaded into memory, it can be determined whether to load or unload a particular application program component. In addition, data that can readily identify the application components that are not already into memory can be provided as differential application data for loading various application programs and their variations to facilitate switching between and/or concurrently running multiple application programs and their variations.
