  • Publication number: 20190042401
Abstract: Technologies for directly performing read and write operations on matrix data in a data storage device are disclosed. The data storage device receives a request to perform a read or write operation on matrix data stored in one or more memory units of the data storage device. Each memory unit is associated with a column address for the matrix data. The data storage device determines whether the request specifies to read or write a column or a row in the matrix data. The data storage device performs, in response to a determination that the request specifies to read or write a column in the matrix data, the read or write operation on the matrix data on the column.

  • Patent number: 8438455
Abstract: In some embodiments, a solid state disk includes a non-volatile memory and a controller. The controller performs ECC on data stored on the non-volatile memory, and performs a parity operation on the data if the ECC cannot correct the data. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 8389070
Abstract: A method for depositing a polymeric material onto a substrate, said method comprising introducing an organic monomeric material in a gaseous state into a plasma deposition chamber, igniting a glow discharge within said chamber, and applying a high frequency voltage as a pulsed field, at a power of from 0.001 to 500 w/m3 for a sufficient period of time to allow a polymeric layer to form on the surface of the substrate. The method is particularly suitable for producing oil and water repellent coatings, in particular where the monomeric material contains haloalkyl compounds. Apparatus particularly adapted to carry out the method of the invention is also described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 8291297
Abstract: When an error correction code (ECC) unit finds uncorrectable errors in a solid state non-volatile memory device, a process may be used in an attempt to locate and correct the errors. This process may first identify ‘low confidence’ memory cells that are likely to contain errors, and then determine what data is more likely to be correct in those cells, based on various criteria. The new data may then be checked with the ECC unit to verify that it is sufficiently correct for the ECC unit to correct any remaining errors.

  • Patent number: 7811608
Abstract: An osteogenic composition is prepared by a process including the steps of subjecting demineralized bone to an extraction medium to produce an insoluble extraction product and a soluble extraction product, separating the insoluble extraction product and the soluble extraction product, drying the soluble extraction product to remove all or substantially all of the moisture in the soluble extracting product, and combining the dried soluble extraction product with demineralized bone particles. Preferably, the process does not involve heating.

  • Publication number: 20100236479
Abstract: Apparatus (10) is shown for plasma treating a surface of a small (channel 12) to modify the surface and change the functional effect. The apparatus comprises: a source (14) of active species for supply to an inlet (16) of a processing region (18) for forming a plasma in the processing region; means (20) for applying an electric field to the active species in the processing region so that a plasma is formed; and vacuum pumping means (22) for connection to an outlet (24) of the processing region. The vacuum pumping means are operable to provide a flow path (26) in the processing region from the inlet to the outlet thereof and to control pressure in the processing region. Apparatus (10) further comprises supporting means for supporting at least one small channel so that, in use, the flow path extends therethrough, and an internal surface of said at least one small channel is coated with a thin film polymer layer by plasma deposition.
