  • Patent number: 8157225
Abstract: The invention relates to a monopod device for use with a camera, which uses one or more constant force helical springs to counterbalance the weight of a camera and lens, as well as a camera tilt mechanism, the combination of which effectively provides weight compensation that significantly reduces the lifting force required by a user to move the camera and provides stable image capture, camera control, and a reduced footprint when compared to existing tripods.

  • Patent number: 8149716
Abstract: The systems and methods described herein include adaptive routing processes for packet-based wireless communication networks. This routing approach works both in MANETs (when a contemporaneous end-to-end path is available) and in DTNs (when a contemporaneous end to end path is not available, but one of formed over space and time). In particular, the methods include adaptively selecting a routing process for transmitting a packet through a node in the network based on available information on the network topology and/or the contents of the packet.

  • Publication number: 20120074952
Abstract: A method of characterizing a wiring network is implemented in a system which includes a test controller and at least two probes. On commands from the test controller, at least one of the probes changes its impedance between the nominal impedance of the wiring network and a mismatch impedance. Reflectometry measurements are performed before and after of switching the impedance of the second probe. At the first probe, an RF signal is generated and a reflected signal is measured. Then, the impedance of the second probe is changed, and again an RF signal is generated and a reflected signal is measured at the first probe. Additionally, a frequency response may be measured at the second probe.

  • Publication number: 20110292122
Abstract: A micro-fluid ejection head has multiple ejection chips joined adjacently to create a lengthy array across a media to-be-imaged. The chips have fluid firing elements arranged along skewed fluid vias to enable seamless stitching of fluid ejections. The firing elements are energized to eject fluid and ones are spaced according to colors or fluid types. Overlapping firing elements serve redundancy efforts during imaging for reliable print quality. Variable chips sizes and shapes are disclosed as are relationships between differently colored fluid vias. Skew angles range variously each with noted advantages. Singulating chips from larger wafers provide still further embodiments.

  • Publication number: 20110210884
Abstract: An apparatus and method to generate and detect virtual targets. Position information for one or more virtual targets is calculated onboard a vehicle from real position information obtained from GPS satellites or other external or internal sources. This virtual position information is coded, mixed with a carrier frequency, amplified, and radiated to a nearby test vehicle, such as an aircraft. The amplitude of the radiated signal is adjusted such that the signal containing the virtual position information is received by the test aircraft only. The radiated signal thus adjusted is below the detection threshold of any aircraft further away. The test aircraft decodes the signal and interprets the decoded virtual position information as real aircraft in its vicinity. The coded signals may be structured to comply with the requirements of the FAA's ADS-B system. The apparatus may be mounted on the test aircraft itself, or on a nearby aircraft.

  • Publication number: 20110074879
Abstract: An ink manifold constructed with a number of semiconductor tiles which are fastened end to end on a rigid base member to form a page wide print mechanism. Each tile is constructed with ink channels on one side in liquid communication with ink outlet ports on the opposite side. The ink channels carry ink from ports in the base member to the outlet ports of the tiles. The interface between each tile defines a boundary. An inkjet printhead is fastened over each boundary of the tiled manifold so that the ink inlet ports of the printhead are aligned with the ink outlet ports of the underlying tiles. No ink passes across the boundary of the adjacent manifold tiles. The fabrication of the individual tiles from a semiconductor wafer facilitates usage of the wafer when fabricating page wide print mechanisms.

  • Publication number: 20100309805
Abstract: In order to measure the performance of a DOCSIS upstream channel as well as to locate impairments, a special test signal is transmitted in a time slot of the upstream channel by a test instrument positioned anywhere within the CATV plant. A second test instrument, located at the termination point of the upstream plant, then detects, recovers, and processes the test signal in order to complete the measurement. The typical methods used to detect and recover bursted signals within a DOCSIS upstream channel use precise timing information transmitted in a corresponding DOCSIS downstream channel. Unfortunately, the downstream channel and thus the precise timing information are not always available to the secondary test instrument. The present invention also describes an apparatus and method for detecting a bursted test signal without the use of the DOCSIS upstream channel timing.

  • Publication number: 20100288443
Abstract: The Tucker EZ Taping Tool is a very simple tool for use in taping the joints and corners when installing drywall or sheetrock. The Tucker EZ Taping Tool uses a box or hopper to serve the mud or taping compound rather than similar tools that require the compound to be pumped into a tube. There is also an adjustment to adjust the amount of compound flowing out with the tape. Using the hopper, rather than a tube allows for the compound to be mixed much thicker eliminating the need to return a second time with thicker compound to cover nails. The tool has a built in knife holder, 3½ inches high and 5 inches long fastened onto the back of the tape holder. This allows the workman to have his knife with him for wiping the tape on the joint as well as spotting nails along the joint.

  • Publication number: 20100288204
Abstract: A carrier device for restraining an animal inside and outside of a motor vehicle. The carrier device includes a plurality of panels configured to form a hollow enclosure for housing the animal and a strap for connecting the enclosure to the motor vehicle. At least one of the panels includes a frame for supporting the panel in order to maintain the shape of the enclosure. The panels and the frame are configured to allow the enclosure to collapse so that the carrier can be folded. The strap includes fastening mechanisms at each end. A portion of the strap located between the two ends is connected to one of the panels of the enclosure so that during a sudden acceleration or deceleration of the motor vehicle, the animal is restrained within the enclosure and a force exerted on the enclosure is transferred to the motor vehicle.
