Publication number: 20150027382Abstract: Modular pet structure assemblies and related methods are disclosed. The modular pet structures have a base module with a plurality of connection joints for receiving other modules. The base can receive one or more than one vertical modules. The vertical module can attach to the base and includes at least one bi-directional movement mechanism having two spaced apart ends. The at least one bi-directional movement mechanism is configured to move when one of the ends is moved. For example, when a toy attached to one end is moved, a second toy attached to the other end moves in response thereto.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2014Publication date: January 29, 2015Inventors: Jim Mc Cafferty, Richard Ferris

Patent number: 8098330Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for generating a video output by combining a first video input and a second video input. A first input image is accessed from the first video input and a second input image is accessed from the second video input, wherein the second input image includes a selected element recorded in front of a monochromatic background. A first region and a second region are generated from the first input image. An output image that includes the first region and the second region with a gap separating the first region from the second region is generated. The selected element is placed at least over the gap in the output image, wherein predetermined areas of the first region and the second region remain visible in the output image. The output image is included in the video output.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2006Date of Patent: January 17, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Richard Ferri, Matthew G. Publication number: 20110113038Abstract: As indicated above, the present invention transparently inserts search arguments/terms (referred to as noise) into a search string so that the search arguments themselves would not be clearly evident when a user is searching. The inserted noise terms are related to the underlying search terms. This would confuse a mining program and/or hacker looking for sensitive material (such as intellectual property). When the search results are returned, any “hits” resulting from noise will be removed transparently from the overall results. The insertion and removal under the present invention provides a more secure level of searching, yet is completely transparent to the end user. The inserted random search arguments are germane contextually to the search string.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 2009Publication date: May 12, 2011Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Elmer K. Corbin, Richard Ferri, Moon J. Kim, Lev Kozakov

Patent number: 7240107Abstract: A method of copying an operating system image in a cluster computing environment that has virtually unlimited scale does not require the strict amounts of control over installation that current methods have, but rather causes operating system images to propagate themselves in a cluster environment, spreading from one node to the next until the entire cluster is installed. Broadcast storms and response storms during installation are avoided by employing a regulation method that automatically delays installation during busy periods. The method does not require any prior knowledge of the number of nodes in the cluster, or the cluster network configuration.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2002Date of Patent: July 3, 2007Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Michael S. Publication number: 20070123365Abstract: A golf club grip for attachment to a golf club shaft formed of a lower section having a first diameter and an upper section having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter. Both the lower section and the upper section each extend approximately half the length of the golf club grip with an interface section connection the lower and upper sections. The structure of the golf club grip promotes better feel and allows a golfer's non-dominant upper hand to obtain a firmer and stronger grip while allowing the dominant lower hand to impart more force to the ball with the golf club.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2005Publication date: May 31, 2007Inventor: Richard Ferris
