  • Patent number: 9131202
Abstract: Systems and methods for encoding and playing back video at adjustable playback speeds by interpolating frames to achieve smooth playback in accordance with embodiments of the invention are described. One embodiment includes a source encoder that includes a processor, memory including an encoder application, where the encoder application directs the processor to: select a subset of frames from a first video sequence; generate motion vectors describing frames from the first video sequence that are not part of the selected subset of frames, where each motion vector describes movement between a frame in the subset of frames and a frame not included in the subset of frames; store the motion vectors; decimate frames not included in the subset of frames from the first video sequence to generate a second video sequence having a nominal frame rate less than the frame rate of the first video sequence; and encode the second video sequence at the nominal frame rate.

  • Publication number: 20150105155
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a system and a method for visualizing synthetic objects within a real-world video clip. The embodiments allow interactive, synthetic objects or characters to appear as if they are “embedded” inside or form part of a video clip. These objects move independently of the environment within the video clip and are controlled by a user. In one embodiment the video frames are set as textures in the furthermost layer in a 3D environment viewer or 3D “engine”. In another embodiment separate layers of video frames are superimposed with the synthetic objects on an output screen and synchronizing the movements and the field of view settings to give the perception that only one camera is used.

  • Publication number: 20150089008
Abstract: A method and apparatus for intelligent network resource manager for distributed computing systems is provided. A first priority is assigned to a first virtual channel set that includes at least two virtual channels of a plurality of virtual channels associated with a physical communication channel. A second priority is assigned to a second virtual channel set that includes at least one virtual channel of the plurality of virtual channels. The first virtual channel set has more virtual channels than the second virtual channel set. Outbound messages of the first priority are directed to virtual channels of the first virtual channel set. Outbound messages of the second priority are directed to virtual channels of the second virtual channel set. The virtual channels are processed in a round-robin order, where processing includes sending the outbound messages over the physical communication channel.

  • Publication number: 20150053107
Abstract: A gun firing method whereby 4 projectile segments that are contained in a cartridge case are fired simultaneously which creates a predetermined square pattern on a target to increase the hit probability of the dispersion. In the primary embodiment of the invention two sets of side by side projectile segments that are contained in the cartridge case are fired by a gun, spin around their fore and aft axis, and provide a powerful square salvo. The dispersion produces a substantial increase in the hit probability when compared to a single shot.

  • Publication number: 20150039712
Abstract: Techniques are described for providing one or more remote nodes with direct access to persistent random access memory (PRAM). In an embodiment, registration information is generated for a remote direct access enabled network interface controller (RNIC). The registration information associates an access key with a target region in PRAM. The access key is sent to a remote node of the one or more nodes. The RNIC may subsequently receive a remote direct memory access (RDMA) message from the remote node that includes the access key. In response to the RDMA message, the RNIC performs a direct memory access within the target region of PRAM.

In one aspect, a method includes associating a private vehicle with an individual. A behavior of the individual is monitored when the individual is operating the private vehicle. The method includes determining whether the individual is adhering to a set of parameters set by an entity. Information is presented to the individual that they have earned a credit towards a benefit based on operating of the private vehicle. The entity may be permitted to configure the set of parameters and set a weight to each of the set of parameters. A punitive measure may be provided when the set of parameters is violated. • Publication number: 20140259964
Abstract: The present invention provides an insulation panel used to form part of an exterior element of a buildings envelope for thermal insulation, ventilation, heating and cooling purpose having an internal duct that provides heat exchange between counter flowing waste and fresh air streams, oriented through the panel to minimise undesirable heat transfer. Ventilation air enters beneath the eaves, waste air exits beneath the ridge passing the coil of a reversible heat pump. The paired coil inside the building in the upper roof space within the fresh air stream is used for heating or cooling the building. Ducted waste air, leaving the building at this same position, can be supplied with a water mist before entering the heat exchanger to provide further indirect evaporative cooling of the incoming air stream. The waste air is also used to cool solar panels when fitted to the roof.

  • Publication number: 20130302757
Abstract: A method of geospatial data based assessment driver behavior to improve driver safety and efficiency is disclosed. A method of a server device may comprise determining that a telemetry data is associated with a vehicle communicatively coupled with the server device and comparing the telemetry data with a driver objective data. A variance between the telemetry data and the driver objective data may then be determined. A performance score may be generated upon comparison of the variance to a threshold limit and/or the driver objective data. The performance score may be published along with other performance scores of other drivers in other vehicles also communicatively coupled with the server device to a reporting dashboard module. Elements of game theory may be implemented to create a team driving challenge and/or a driver performance program to generate the performance score to improve driver safety and efficiency for commercial fleets.
