  • Patent number: 7324561
Abstract: A circuit for generating an output oscillation signal with low jitter includes an oscillator to generate an oscillation signal at an initial frequency based upon a control input to vary an amplitude of the oscillation signal. A first frequency multiplier multiplies the oscillation signal to result in a first signal with first frequency and first undesired frequency components. A filter minimizes the first undesired frequency components of the first signal. A second frequency multiplier multiplies the first signal to result in the output oscillation signal with second frequency and second undesired frequency components. A second feedback circuit compares a predetermined range and at least one of the first signal and the output oscillation signal to result in a reference value. A first feedback circuit varies the control input based upon a comparison between the reference value and the amplitude of the oscillation signal to minimize the second undesired frequency components.

  • Patent number: 7308549
Abstract: A technique is provided for storing updated values of a data item in a segment of memory in which stored values cannot be individually overwritten, such as a flash memory. Each updated value is stored at an address which has space for a far pointer and a local pointer. When a new value is stored, the local pointer of the previous value is set to point to the address of the new value. When a chain of nodes of this type has been established and a further update value is to be stored, it is entered at a new node and a far pointer at a much earlier node of the chain is set to point to the new node so that the most recent value can be found without having to follow the local pointers in all of the previous nodes.

  • Publication number: 20070231533
Abstract: A radial cell ceramic honeycomb structure is provided that is particularly adapted for use as a catalytic carrier or a particulate filter in an automotive or diesel exhaust system. The honeycomb structure includes a network of interconnected webs having a central axis. The network of webs includes radial webs of varying lengths, only some of which substantially extend the entire radial length of the network, and tangential webs that intersect to define rings of gas-conducting radial cells, and a rounded outer skin that surrounds the cells formed by the interconnected webs. The radial webs extending to the periphery of the network join an inner edge of the outer skin in a substantially orthogonal orientation to reduce thermally generated stresses and to increase strength of the resulting structure. The number of radial webs in the network changes along the radial length at transition zones that are defined by one of the tangential webs such that a desired cell density is achieved across the network.

  • Publication number: 20070210208
Abstract: In the field of avionics, it is difficult to justify initiation of new aircraft programmes for replacement of small numbers of niche aircraft. Instead, in many cases, retrofitting existing aircraft is preferred for economic reasons. In this respect, upgrading existing braking systems to accommodate replacement of existing brake units employing sintered friction materials with brake units employing carbon-carbon composite friction materials is desirable. However, when upgrading the braking systems it is necessary to ensure that the integrity of the existing airframe is not compromised by the use of the new brake assemblies employing the carbon-carbon composite friction materials. Consequently, the present invention replaces existing pressure control valves of existing braking systems with an electronic control unit coupled to a pressure control servovalve, thereby ensuring proper application of hydraulic pressure to brake assemblies.

  • Publication number: 20070211442
Abstract: A two-part, high-density card retention system includes a tapered channel in a chassis or housing and a mating wedge that runs the length of the housing, with the lead wedge being cammed towards a flat channel surface by drawing the wedge inwardly and locating the edge of the board to be mounted between the wedge and the opposing straight channel wall. The mounting provides continuous high-pressure contact between the board and the straight channel wall for maximal thermal transfer and robust anti-vibration and anti-shock mounting of the board to the chassis. Because no additional assemblies are mounted to the edge of the board, the boards may be spaced apart by a fine pitch, thus to minimize the size of the module into which the boards are mounted.

  • Publication number: 20070151562
Abstract: The present invention provides for the integration of drug dispersion methods into a drug or medicine delivery system. The drug dispersion methods used include shear (e.g., air across a drug, with or without a gas assist), capillary flow or a venturi effect, mechanical means such as spinning, vibration, or impaction, and turbulence (e.g., using mesh screens, or restrictions in the air path). These methods of drug dispersion allow for all of the drug in the system to be released, allowing control of the dosage size. These methods also provide for drug metering, fluidization, entrainment, deaggragation and deagglomeration. The present invention also provides for the integration of a drug sealing system into the device. The drug sealing system provides a way of blocking the migration of drug from one area of the package to another.

  • Publication number: 20070116397
Abstract: A wheel end or other assembly for facilitating rotation about an axis includes a tubular housing, a spindle that extends into the housing, and a double row antifriction bearing between the housing and spindle. The bearing includes at least one separate inner race that fits over the spindle, with the axial position of that race determining the setting for the bearing. Preferably, a spacer fits around the spindle between the inner race and a backing element. The assembly is unitized by deforming the end of the spindle outwardly against the end of the separate inner race with the deformation being sufficient to drive the inner race toward the backing element and collapse the spacer, if present. The deformation of the end of the spindle continues until bearing produces a torque that reflects a desired preload in the bearing.
