Publication number: 20050216409Abstract: Centralized check image storage system. The present invention provides for sharing check images stored in a substantially centralized storage system between and/or among banks in support of the check collection process. In some embodiments, check images are received from the capture bank via a landing zone at the centralized storage facility. These images and information supporting the check collection process can be in the form of load file. A cross-reference file including information supporting the check clearing process such as unique handles identifying the check images is received from a paying bank, possibly also via a landing zone. Check images can be identified based on these unique handles, so that the check images can be made accessible to both the capture bank and the paying bank from the substantially centralized storage system.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2004Publication date: September 29, 2005Inventors: Patrick McMonagle, Douglas Smith, Richard Norman

Patent number: 6879170Abstract: The present invention provides a connecting device for connection to a body of semiconductor material. The body of semiconductor material includes an integrated circuit that contains a plurality of clusters of signal transmissive connector elements arranged in a predetermined disposition. The connecting device includes a plurality of groups of signal transmissive connector members for connection to an associated cluster of signal transmissive connector elements. The disposition of the signal transmissive connector members in each group matches the disposition of the signal transmissive connector elements in that group's associated cluster. The connecting device further includes flexible portions between its respective groups of signal transmissive connector members.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2003Date of Patent: April 12, 2005Inventors: Richard Norman, David Chamberlain

Patent number: 6730527Abstract: A substrate is provided with a plurality of regions, at least one of which is operationally redundant. An integrated circuit to be placed onto the substrate has a plurality of functional units that are designed to be interchangeable. The integrated circuit is tested for defects and, if a functional unit is found to be defective, then the integrated circuit is oriented (e.g., rotated or translated) with respect to the substrate such that the defective functional unit overlies the operationally redundant region of the substrate. A functional association is then formed between the remaining regions of the substrate and the non-defective functional units of the integrated circuit. Such functional association may be achieved by connecting each pair of unit and region. In this way, an integrated circuit with defective functional unit need not be discarded.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2002Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: Hyperchip Inc.Inventor: Richard Norman

Publication number: 20040001299Abstract: Lossy materials can be used to suppress EMI transmission. Disclosed are methods for applying lossy materials to EMI shielded enclosures to improve EMI shielding effectiveness and the EMI shielded enclosures so produced. In some embodiments, the EMI shielded enclosure includes a printed-circuit board mountable device. In one embodiment, lossy material can be applied to the interior of an EMI shielded enclosure using an adhesive. In another embodiment, lossy materials can be applied to the exterior of the EMI enclosure to suppress EMI incident upon the EMI shielded enclosure, thereby reducing the susceptibility of electronics contained within the EMI shielded enclosure. In yet another embodiment, lossy materials can be applied to both the interior and exterior of the EMI enclosure.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2002Publication date: January 1, 2004Applicant: LAIRD TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Philip van Haaster, Edward Nakauchi, Richard Norman Johnson

Publication number: 20030208421Abstract: A system and method for performing Electronic Check Presentment (ECP) processing. The system and method employ digital imaging techniques to digitally image the physical checks as they arrive subsequent to posting of the ECP items. The images are electronically linked to the data records that represent the checks. During the proofing process, in which the data records for the ECP items are validated against the data records for the physical items, the records are updated such that the posting date and ISN number for the data records for the physical items reflect the posting date and ISN number of the ECP items. As the digital image of the check is electronically linked to the data records, the image is thus carries the posting date and ISN of the ECP item.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2000Publication date: November 6, 2003Applicant: The Chase Manhattan BankInventors: Tom Vicknair, Sam Beard, Richard Norman, Mark Riggleman, Max Roycroft, Dick Feagin, Cliff Day, Paul Fielding

Patent number: 6518911Abstract: A non-skid, radar absorbing system 10. The system absorbs and scatters incident microwave and/or millimeter wave radiation so as to decrease retro reflectance. The system includes an absorbing layer (RAM) 14 juxtaposed with a substrate 12. Disposed adjacent the RAM 14 is a non-skid matrix layer 16 for providing a safe foot hold. Optionally, a protective environmental topcoat 18 is applied to the non-skid layer 16. The system has electrical and magnetic characteristics such that radar energy at a discrete or broadband frequencies is at least partially absorbed. The invention also includes methods of making and using the non-skid, radar absorbing system 10.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2001Date of Patent: February 11, 2003Assignee: General Dynamics Land Systems, Inc.Inventors: S. Patent number: 5884502Abstract: The present invention concerns a combination ice chute and ice bin covering door for directing ice into the ice storage area of an ice or beverage dispenser. The ice chute cover is pivotally secured to a top surface of the beverage dispenser so that it can move from a closed position to an ice directing/loading position. In the closed position the ice chute cover serves to cover an opening to the ice storage area of the dispenser. A handle on the chute cover can be grasped to manually swing it between both positions. In the ice loading position a portion of the chute extends outward of the perimeter of the beverage dispenser. In operation, the handle is used to move the chute cover from the closed position to the loading position. A bucket of ice can then be lifted so that the open end thereof rests on the lip of the chute cover. The bucket can then be tipped upward so as to empty its ice contents onto the bottom surface of the chute cover.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1997Date of Patent: March 23, 1999Assignee: IMI Wilshire Inc.Inventors: Brian Carter Jones, Richard Norman Chasse, Jeffrey Alan Rutchik, Robert Allen Crosby, Jr., David George Kmetz

Patent number: 4070189Abstract: Antistatic compositions comprising a highly crosslinked vinylbenzyl quaternary ammonium polymer and a hydrophobic binder are described. Elements, particularly photographic elements, having a layer of the antistatic compositions are also described. The compositions are characterized by a binder to antistatic polymer ratio of about 10:1 to 1:1. The compositions are highly conductive in thin layers and retain substantial conductivity at low relative humidity. Layers of the antistatic compositions are particularly useful for photographic elements because they can be contacted over a wide range of conditions with a hydrophilic layer without resulting in ferrotyping.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 1976Date of Patent: January 24, 1978Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Richard Norman Kelley, Gerald Allan Campbell
