  • Patent number: 7670837
Abstract: The present invention provides novel MDCK-derived adherent non-tumorigenic cell lines that can be grown in the presence or absence of serum. The cell lines of the present invention are useful for the production of vaccine material (e.g., viruses). More specifically, the cell lines of the present invention are useful for the production of influenza viruses in general and ca/ts influenza viruses in particular. The invention further provides methods and media formulations for the adaptation and cultivation of MDCK cells such that they remain non-tumorigenic. Additionally, the present invention provides methods for the production of vaccine material (e.g., influenza virus) in the novel cell lines of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20090285198
Abstract: A method for supporting communication between a source internet protocol phone and a destination internet protocol phone is provided. The source internet protocol phone communicates via a Network Address Translator (“NAT”) gateway. The method includes receiving a packet from the source phone at the NAT. The packet is for communication with the destination phone. The method further includes querying whether the destination phone is located in the subnetwork serviced by the NAT gateway. If the destination phone is not located in the subnetwork serviced by the NAT gateway, then the method includes sending the packet upstream to the destination phone via the Internet. If the destination phone is located in the subnetwork serviced by the NAT gateway, then the method includes directing the packet to the destination phone.

  • Patent number: 7613133
Abstract: A system and method for processing information transport elements, such as ethernet packets, at interfaces to a forwarder. Modules that implement processing logic are allocated per interface and per direction (i.e., inbound or outbound). At any given interface, a series of modules would be used to process inbound packets; likewise, a set of modules would be used to process outbound packets. For inbound packets, the modules allocated for inbound processing are executed when the packet is received from the interface, before sending the packet on to the forwarder. For packets that are outbound from the forwarder, the modules allocated for outbound processing are applied when the packet is sent by the forwarder, prior to any other processing, e.g., queuing to hardware. To assign modules to different interfaces at a forwarder, a registration process is performed during the system start-up process, or dynamically at runtime.

  • Publication number: 20090090357
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a guide adapted for facilitating insertion of a medical device into the trachea of a patient. The guide comprises an integral curved-shaped member having at least a first leg at one end of the guide. The curved-shaped member consists essentially of an outside curved side defining a concave groove. A first angle is defined on the first leg configured and dimensioned to allow for at least the first leg to pass through the mouth and into the trachea of the patient. Insertion of the guide into the trachea allows for elevation of the tongue and surrounding soft tissue of the patient thereby forming an air space that allows for passage of a medical device.

  • Patent number: 7504575
Abstract: An intonation training device for training musicians in just intonation. As disclosed, the device is a pocket-sized portable device with an audio output and a user interface which includes an LCD display and a device such as a push button for selecting an item from a menu. When the device is turned on, the LCD display indicates a key and the device emits a sustained pure chord in the key. The user can use the menu item selection device to select another key and the training device then continuously emits the chord in the just scale for that key. The selected key appears in the LCD display. Implementations disclosed include an implementation that employs stored samples of the chords, an implementation in which the chords are generated from waveforms, and an implementation in a portable pocket-sized multimedia asset player.
