  • Publication number: 20080173161
Abstract: An intonation training device for training musicians in just intonation. As disclosed, the device is a pocket-sized portable device with an audio output and a user interface which includes an LCD display and a device such as a push button for selecting an item from a menu. When the device is turned on, the LCD display indicates a key and the device emits a sustained pure chord in the key. The user can use the menu item selection device to select another key and the training device then continuously emits the chord in the just scale for that key. The selected key appears in the LCD display. • Patent number: 7365263
In a preferred embodiment, the pure chord is a perfect fifth in the just scale for the key. To train his or her intonation, the user then plays a sequence of notes in the key, adjusting his or her intonation while playing to eliminate beats between the note being played and the chord being emitted by the training device. In other embodiments, the device may emit a third in the just scale for the key. The user can use the menu item selection device to select another key and the training device then continuously emits the chord in the just scale for that key. The selected key appears in the LCD display.

  • Publication number: 20070183952
Abstract: An exhaust gas treatment system having an exhaust gas inlet section, an oxygen enrichment system, catalyst holding arms, and an exhaust gas outlet section is disclosed. The exhaust gas inlet and outlet sections can be designed to mate to existing exhaust gas plumbing systems for industrial facilities. The optional oxygen enrichment system helps optimize catalytic performance by maintaining excess oxygen in the exhaust gas stream and by imparting greater turbulence to the exhaust gas stream. Disposed within each catalyst holding arm is at least one catalyst coated substrate where the catalytic oxidation of formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds occurs. The catalytic substrate can be catalyst coated bricks, particles, beads, fabrics, or filter materials. Each catalyst holding arm can be selectively closed off using upstream and downstream isolation valves. Catalyst coated substrate longevity can be increased by the inclusion of an optional filter upstream of the catalyst coated substrates.

  • Publication number: 20070060319
Abstract: A gaming system for playing a restricted-access progressive game comprises a database containing data, including a list of players having access to the restricted-access progressive game. The system includes a gaming terminal with a connection port for coupling the gaming terminal to the data-base. The gaming terminal has a player-identification device providing player information. The information is compared with data in the database to determine whether the restricted-access progressive game can be activated and game information displayed at the gaming terminal. A method of operating the progressive game comprises receiving a player-identification input at the gaming terminal and transmitting a player-identifier signal from the gaming terminal to a remotely located controller that determines accessibility to the progressive game.

  • Publication number: 20070039447
Abstract: Techniques for gaining facility in the performance of jazz music by performing a sequence of patterns. Each pattern begins at a fixed interval from the preceding pattern in the sequence and the patterns are performed with perpetual motion between the patterns. The patterns are all performed with the same articulation and are systematically performed across the complete range of the instrument and across a complete set of key areas and modes. In an exemplary embodiment, the patterns are made up of eighth note octave scales played in four four time with notes played on the upbeat being slurred to notes played on the downbeat. The last note of one pattern is slurred to the first note of the next. In the exemplary embodiment, the sequences of patterns are performed in all keys and the scales are drawn from the major scale and modes that stem from the major scale.

  • Publication number: 20070026941
Abstract: A method of operating a progressive wagering game comprises conducting multiple sessions of a wagering game at a gaming terminal by receiving wagers from first and second players and providing access to a restricted-access progressive game to only the first player. The progressive game has a progressive jackpot funded by a portion of the first player's wagers. Alternatively stated, the method includes denying access to the progressive game to the second player such that only the first player is eligible to win the jackpot. Further, the restricted-access progressive game may comprise conducting, at a gaming terminal, a first set of sessions of a wagering game with a first group of players, and a second set of sessions of a wagering game with a second group of players. A first progressive jackpot is eligible to only the first group, while a second progressive jackpot is eligible to only the second group.
