Abstract: A method of making an ink-printed fibrous web by applying onto at least one side of a coated fibrous web at least one ink layer of a planographic ink to form an image thereon to produce a printed fibrous web. The ink layer(s) has a total volatile content, as supplied, of less than 10% (preferably less than 5%). The printed fibrous web is then subjected to ambient temperatures without the use of a drying oven or by employing oven temperatures that have an exit web temperature that does not exceed 225° F. Subsequent processing of the printed fibrous web includes applying one or more coatings including a waterbased coating, a coating having a total volatile content of less than 10%, a coating that is cured with actinic radiation, and an anti-offset coating.

Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning heads of golf clubs has a substantially upstanding housing having an upper end, a lower end and a wall structure interconnecting the two and defining a chamber. At least one portal is formed in the wall structure. The portals may be slot-like or may have a curvilinear configuration such as a circle or ellipse. A set of brushes extends from the interior of the upper end into the chamber. An opposing set of brushes extends from the interior of the lower end into the chamber. The terminal ends of the two sets of brushes define a substantially narrow passageway in alignment with the portals. At least one of the upper and lower sets of brushes has a plurality of bristle zones wherein the brush bristles of one bristle zone are of a different length and rigidity than the brush bristles of a different bristle zone.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for synchronizing a plurality of video signals received from one or more video sources is provided. The method includes providing one or more video sources and providing a codec including an internal reference oscillator. The method also includes generating a plurality of horizontal and vertical synchronization pulses based on the reference frequency of the internal reference oscillator, generating a composite synchronization pulse based on the plurality of horizontal and vertical synchronization pulses, and transmitting the composite synchronization pulse to the one or more video sources via a communication link.

Abstract: Blood separation methods and systems are provided for mid-processing calculation of blood composition. Blood is conveyed into a device having an outlet line and the device is spun to separate a blood component from the blood. A flow of blood component is conveyed from the device by the outlet line and the blood component in the outlet line is optically measured. With said optical measurement, a current blood component yield, a blood component pre-count, the volume of blood to process to collect a target amount of said blood component, and/or the processing time required to collect a target amount of said blood component is calculated. The optical measurement can also be used to calculate an amount of storage fluid to convey into a collection container with the blood component.

In a method embodiment, a method of arranging objects in a directory information system includes providing a plurality of objects to a computer-readable medium having a directory information structure. Each object may have one or more characteristics and each object may be stored, for example, in the computer-readable medium according to the directory information structure. Storing the objects may further include performing a mathematic operation on at least one of the characteristic(s) of the object, and arranging the object in the directory information structure based at least in part on a result of the mathematical operation performed on at least one of the characteristic(s) of the object.

Abstract: In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, reader antennas are provided within storage fixtures for transporting RF signals between, for example, an RFID reader and an RFID tag. In a preferred embodiment, the RFID-enabled storage fixtures are implemented using an intelligent network, which may allow enhanced flexibility in controlling systems for interrogation of RFID antennas.

Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for use thereof. The apparatus, in one embodiment, includes a 1x2 coupler in communication with a waveguide. The 1x2 coupler, in this embodiment, is configured to separate an input finite bandwidth optical signal provided from the optical waveguide into two similar optical signals. Input ends of first and second waveguide arms, in one embodiment, are in communication with the 1x2 coupler and configured to receive ones of the input optical signals. An inherent birefringence of each of the first and second waveguide arms may be substantially similar. Moreover, the first and second waveguide arms have different physical path lengths that differ by an amount (?L). Additionally, a 2x2 coupler may be in optical communication with an output end of the first and second waveguide arms and configured to provide an output TE polarization and an output TM polarization.

The data storage device also includes a first detector that generates an output sequence in response to the short DC equalization target. The data storage device also includes a high pass filter that attenuates DC components of the short DC equalization target and that passes low frequency components of the short DC equalization target above a cutoff frequency to generate a filtered signal. The data storage device also includes a second detector that processes the output sequence in response to the filtered signal.

Abstract: A system and method for securely controlling access to a designated location with a single card having a permanent data storage medium and a temporary data storage medium disposed on the card. Biometric information is acquired from a person and written on the permanent storage medium. A verification terminal acquires biometric information from a possessor of the card, such as random and multiple biometric information, and reads the same type of biometric information from the permanent storage medium of the card. Upon a favorable comparison of biometric information of the card and card possessor, authorization data is written on the card specifying limited access. The biometric information and the authorization data can be uploaded to a local database. The type of biometric information to be acquired from the card possessor and read from the card is accessed from the database.

Abstract: A multi-zone daylight harvesting method and apparatus having a closed loop system utilizing a single light sensor is disclosed herein. This light control system includes an ambient light sensor connected to a detection circuit for detecting the amount of ambient light within a given zone and converting the light signal to an digital one. A control device couples to receive a predetermined rate of change for each respective zone from a storage unit along with the converted digital signal. The control device connects each zone of a plurality of electrical loads to control the power supplied to the electrical load at the predetermined corresponding rate of change and responsive to the amount of ambient light detected.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for fast restart of a guest operating system executing on a virtual machine operating system in a virtual machine environment. During initialization, the guest operating system saves a set of checkpoint information to persistent storage. Upon detection of an error condition during operation, the guest operating system begins a re-initialization procedure in accordance with an illustrative embodiment of the present invention. During the re-initialization procedure, the guest operating system retrieves the checkpoint information and configures itself using the retrieved information. By utilizing the retrieved information, the guest operating system avoids the need to perform lengthy configuration discovery routines, thereby shortening the re-initialization time substantially.
